1395 is completed.... Track time completed

What scared me most was poking a hole in the diaphragm or bending the needle if I slipped on a cold dark night at the track.

I'am at 1700 feet here. Was your bike running lean with 130's ?

Nope. It seemed to run fine, with just a HINT of a lean surge at part throttle cruising. The bike was dyno tuned by a local shop after the pipe and airbox mods were done and it seemed good in the limited mileage I got on it last year.

If you tried raising the needles all the way and re-adjusting air/fuel screws and it's still lean then I'd go with bigger mains. Not to sure about your altitude. But I'd try 140's Make sure your're using Mikuni jets cause DJ jets are smaller. As for the oem needles on mine there's no adjustment grooves so I just leave them alone and just use bigger jets.

I figure to step up at least a couple sizes as a starting point just to avoid being lean. Your altitude is not so far off mine to seriously affect things. I am sure I will be the same or maybe one step smaller on jets for the difference.

Thanks for the help, Jake.

If it's not going lean at WOT, then i'd leave the jets alone, (well maybe go up one size for good measure) and raise the needle one notch and see if it corrects the problem or even try one size bigger on the pilot jets.

The 1150 studs showed up today, and I'm not taking about me cause I'm the 1395 stud :? Just waiting on those 1150 valve cover bolts and seals then it's time to swap heads. Who's know's maybe by next Friday it will be ready for an ops check.

This Friday might just be the last time I'm in 6.s.......I hope.

Last night made 11 runs, bike was running good. The air was bad so I just ran a bunch of 6.3's. Even qualified for the quick 16 too. In first round eliminations it me against our fastest bike Belitz. I dial in 6.40 and run 6.41, Belitz dial in a 5.42 runs 5.58 so I'm off to the 2nd round.

Now I'm in the land of Dragster's so whats a guy to do.... red light... crap  .
I must of had superman eye's 8O cause I had 1.40 in the box and red lite with 0.4795.

I think I need to play with the clutch some more. May not be slipping enough off the line and causing the rear tire to slip to much causing inconsistency. But it always fun go up aganist those guys and gals :D .

Congrats man!
sounds like your getting on top of your game
I won't be back into the scene until '06

peace,
Ron

Well most of the parts showed up today. just missing one of those stinking 1150 cam cover bolts. Parts guy said it's still on order.

Anyhow the 1150 head will be on by this Fridays test and tune and if the bolt is still a no show then I'll just use a bolt with a flat washer and seal.

Will see what it can do.

Jake, just as a sidebar to your goals, They had the first test and tune of the season here at Bonanza raceway in Walla Walla this last weekend. A guy ran a stretched GS, not sure what size engine, but he managed high 5's at 120mph in the 1/8th. Sounds like you're almost there. Doze.

120mph is pretty strong I'm thinking he may be running nitrous or a big block too

I'm shooting for 110 to 115

I pulled the 1100 head off and the 1150 head is on top, you can see the port opennings are bigger. The ports have been cleaned up to get rid of the flashings inside. Every little bit helps.

I'm glad I didn't port my 1100 head cause the 1150 is already bigger to begin with. Best bet is to port the 1150 head if needed. Plus the intake valves are 1 mm bigger too.

Got the 1150 head bolted down today. Just need to install cams, carbs, exhaust and should be ready for a ops check tomorrow.

I think it looks better than the 1100 head.

Oh yeah while the head was off I'd check my crank and it looks great not even a hair of a TWIST is seen. Now how many runs did i say I had on her..... 500, 1000 or is it more than 1500??. Only my hair dresser knows for sure :D

Cool. I saw a guys slip that was very close to your MPH and time. His 1/4 was a bit slower than 10.2 and a bit over 120MPH. By the time you get to the 1/4 mile track you may have it in the 9's.

I need to do some work on the fuel tank yet. I have to pull off the body work after every run to refuel. I also need to add a second vent to it. Tracks opened last weekend so I need to get my butt in gear.

Bring jets to the track..I'm sure you already know you will be needing more fuel....

That's what I need, a small 1 gallon tank.

So you running meth? in that turbo yet.

There is four of us, at my local track, that made the swap. I'm the last one to get mine back together. I guess we all had the same idea. I have to put the pipe on and it's ready to go. I probably wont get to the track till the end of the month. My 11 month old has been keeping me busy this winter. Let us know how it runs.

Thats the plan for this year. Easy enough to get still. The only down side is keeping things flushed out really good.

You may want to invest in a full suit or zip together before you run the 1/4. Just in case you really do hit that magic number. Hate to see your riding cut short.
