A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Wish us luck. (Helper cat and myself)

The cat seems to think there's something fishy about the engine guard.

Good luck with the restoration

She's just sizing it up as to when she can rest her head on the seat...

Nice! Those saddlebags look real roomy and good road trip stuff. Who made that luggage, was it a part of the Windjammer package? I know they're not Craig Vetter 'Jammer stuff if they're part of that package, so that must be from the guy that bought his company.

Those are KG bags. The same people that make the very popular luggage rack and backrest.

Ddaniels has KG bags on his bike, too.

OK, they would go with my KG trunk on the 1100 then.....:D

Yep.

I just edited my previous post to show his bike.

I just went back and took longer looks at the two systems. If the white ones are KG bags, they are a slightly different design.
They have all-red tail/turn signal housings and the mount is a bit different.
The chrome rails on the sides look the same, that's what made me think they were KG. :-k

Perhaps this place is still in business? (Honda-Suzuki, Cycle Center, Inc.)

I'll take some pic's of the mounts a little later. ;)

Gonna havta join the ride on this one Daniel! A GS that's been in hibernation longer than mine 'ey? Good stuff :D

I like your helper too...

Did you just say LONGER than your 450?

Is that even possible??? :p

Daniel

WTG Steve!
 Thanks. I was doing comparison shopping for this type of accessories before many of the members of this forum were born.

By the way, I don't know if your bags are newer or older than ddaniels' bags, but I noticed last time we were out together (on the 555 ride) that his lights were not all that bright. Dave (ddaniels) took the lenses off, we looked inside.

Well, let's just say that it's nice to have lights built into the bags, but the design left a bit to be desired. Hopefully yours work well. :o

Steve,
Thanks, I'll definitely have to check out all of the wiring on this beast.
I didn't notice when I got it but, it also has a headlight modulator. ;)

Back too the digging:

This is what came out of one of the carbs. Doesn't look much like gasoline to me...

And just how lovely it looked inside...

Clean out your PMs Daniel?
Do you have a sissy bar-luggage rack laying around for my 1100? Want to make the woman confortable.

I've seen worse
WAY worse

As filthy as those carbs were, I decided to switch some parts from this dirty old set from an 1100E model that had been running.

DSC06653.jpg

Pulled out the 145 main jets and 45 pilot jets as well as the emulsion tubes.
Replaced the O-rings on the needle and seat as well as cleaning parts and orifices.
Installed some used 40 pilot jets and a new set of 117.5 main jets as well as new well plugs.

DSC06661.jpg

Also installed these tubes from another set of 1000 CV carbs after cleaning them up.

DSC06660.jpg

Had to change the choke and throttle linkage from the messed up set of original carbs to make them work on this bike.
When I went to try and start it, the battery was extremely low as I must have left the key on most of the day. :o :(

After charging for another hour or so and about 63% charged.
It is a little bit dark outside. Fire in the hole!!! :D

Tomorrow I will clean up an old set of mufflers and see what happens then

Don't bother cleaning them .... just put a little carb cleaner in the gas tank and they will clean themselves .... <sarcasm> :D
