A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

One other thing , I believe you told me my R/R is a shunt type .. regulator and rectifier are seperate units ... plan on ordering the sh775 next week .

Check my new readings pls . Seems as though my cheep multimeter doesnt give me accurate numbers if meter is rested on bike . Just did test over twice with girlfriend writing numbers down while holding meter , used my new meter which was in the basement .

Worse, do the tests in Revised Phase A.

You are likely to have a bad stator. You did not do the leg to ground tests in the Revised Phase B.

I dont understand what you mean revised phase B .. sorry ...
Just took the bike for almost a 2 hr ride , did quick test again

#1 - 12.95 bike off
#2 - 12.50 switch on low beam lights on counted to ten , thats the number I saved
#3 - 12.85 this is at idle . Basikly 1200 rpm
#4 -13.85 this is at 2500 rpm
#5 - 13.37 this is at 4000 rpm
#6 - 13.18 this is reading after turning bike off .. no lights on key completely off

So if you can explain to me whats going on ? Like I said , just finnished 2 hr ride , lights are still bright , battery is still charged ...
Before my battery would be dead in a couple hrs ...

Did your read GS Charging Health(see my signature)?

Your volt meter seems to be screwy, your numbers have changed significantly again Now you are getting 13.85V at 2500 RPM and then it is diving at 4000.

You did not clean your connections or add the appropriate grounds. You also have a post count in this thread of over 60; we shooting for 100?

You're getting some charging, enough for now, but seems this stator ain't 100% and might deteriorate after a few hours of being baked. My previous stator behaved like yours is doing- some charging, but not into the 14 volt range. I ran with it for about 20 hours (ten 2 hour rides over two weeks)-it didn't get worst charging wise. When I removed stator, it showed evidence of BBQ in one spot.
Do the AC stator voltage test again (disconnected from R/R) at 4000 rpm and this time put one meter probe on a stator lead and other probe on good bike ground- you should get very little ac voltage reading.

Well now that I know how you like to spend your time, I will stand back and let you enjoy yourself more.

I prefer to spend my time riding ... and again thx for any and all suggestions and helpful tips from all , unfortunately everyone does not have 25yrs experience working on motorcycles.. and electrical is not my thing ...

I wish that you'd get this gs1000 fixed, so you can get back to the 650 and figure out its clunk.
