I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

My bike is draining the battery, and not getting a charge back to it. Any idea where I should start, as far as what parts could be bad? I have found that it is probably my stator or my voltage regulator.

Is there a way I could narrow it down?

Any input would be appreciated. Supposed to take the bike for a 12 hr ride in a week, so I'm scrambling to figure this out.

Thanks.

It also seems very odd, that my bike will fire right up on a jump, but I can kick it all day and it wont fire. Does this seem unusual, or does it seem like something i can attribute to my other problems?

If someone has put an electronic ignition in it, it will not start if your battery is low.

Is there a way I'd be able to recognize the difference between electronic or not?

If it doesn't have points it's electronic. Do the simple test in post 2 to check your voltage at various revs than get back to us with the results....

Turns out the battery was bad. Getting a new one tomorrow. Going to see what I can find after replacing that.

At idle I'm getting about 12.4v at 6000 rpm, im getting a jump to about 12.8v. Safe to assume just the bad battery? were working on testing stator now.

Nope. That voltage is too low to charge the battery. Should be around 14-14.5v at 4000 rpm.

if you reported all the Quick Test numbers it would be easier to tell what is going on.

Stator resistance was .9 ohms on all 3 coils
75-85v when at 6k rpm
No continuity either way on any wires of voltage regulator.

Key off: 12.69
Key on: 12.01
at idle: 12.25
at 2500RPM:12.47
at 5k RPM: 12.65

From what you've measured so far, I'd say your R/R is more suspect then the stator. The stator resistance measurements and output are in the good range. Make sure that each leg of the stator is open to ground. If that checks out then it's the R/R and/or associated wiring that's most likely the problem.

Before you go off and buy a new RR clean up the connections and run the RR ground wire to the battery and do the quick test again. If you do get a new RR ground it to the battery. Also wait til posplayr replies, he knows this electric sh!t really well.....
