A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

That's the part I cured but not before Joe was out of time. *sigh*

Time and money are joined at the hip but are not the same thing.

I really miss it. It's sick how I feel about that bike. :|

Yeah i hear ya, i hoped to do all sorts of minor jobs over the winter, just didn't happen though

yeah you got me full of anxiety wanting to see the finished product 8-[ 8-[ 8-[ =P~

sorry to hear it is goin so long but still anticipating the finished product!! :D

I am sure we wont be dissapointed :D
This is one of the most discussed GS's on the forum, its gonna Rock :D

Thx guys, really :)
I am very anxious myself but I fear I may not do any
repainting at this point any more this year. So when it
is done I will have an awesome running 1000 but it will
most likely look exactly as it did before I tore it down
except it will be cleaner from me taking it down to the
frame and painting that and cleaning all parts before
coming back up.

If I can work it out I will still get the tank done. It is really
the only part that needs it the most. The rear tail cowling
is brand new and is the right color but doesn't have the pin
striping done.

Right now it is still just a roller and looks exactly as it does
in the pictures on the web site.

We re-start work on the head and block next weekend :)

Bump...

Hey Mark,

How did the work go on Saturday?

Make any good progress? Would be nice to see that "1000" on the road for the ride..

I pulled the entire front end off Joe's '80 GS1000L so I could go dual caliper but I think it is a wash. I am not putting L forks on my bike and I want to keep the spoked rims. I am not sure I can go dual with the spokes. If that's the case I will stay with a single disk brake up front.

That's kind of a bummer.

Did you make any progress on the engine work?

We'll have to look into how to get the dual calipers on your spokes.

Get a wheel of a GS750 if you can't find a 1000 wheel, they are the same. i have a set of spoked wheels with perforated dual discs from a '78 GS750 waiting to go under my Kat.

Ahh then it can be done. I have the rims. They are what is on my bike now. So maybe I have what I need then off this front end to do it. Other than the one fork. I will still need E or H model forks so as to get the caliper mounts on the other fork.

Still right where we left it. All the money has been put down, but there is no time. I don't think I'll be seeing my GS this year. At least not until late. :(

Well it isn't a lot but we got my piston kit in and the block will be sent out for boring this week. The head should also at least be started for the porting and polishing this week yet. If this goes as planned at this point I should have my bike then within the next few weeks.

Not quite. The 750 rims are steel, whereas the 1000 rims are aluminum. I've put the 1000 wheels on my 750. 8)
