looks great.......

but don't you get real tired of seeing it with that big hole in her??????

I now I do....lol

IT'S GOING TO BE CLOSE..........BUDDY.

BTW: since you have nothing to do.....how about watering that lawn....

Oh I don't need anything to do :)
I need some help thats for sure.
I need my garage back! I can't work :x

I am going to pick up the pace now.
No more playing around.

Send her to me Mark. I'll slap her together for ya! :)
While my engine was gone for 5 months, I broke my bike down and gave attention to every single piece. Literally every part on my bike was inspected, refurbished or replaced. It kept me busy the entire time.
I'm actually glad the engine took so long because it gave me time to focus on the entire bike.
While you're waiting, I'm sure there are a lot of things you could do to make the final results better. I only mention this because you sound frustrated by the whole thing.
If the bike is a keeper, the final results is what you'll be living with for many years. Now is the time to give attention to every detail. Not every part requires a lot of money either. A lot of things just require time and elbow grease. Just refurbishing the wiring harness and every single electrical piece and part will keep you busy a long time but costs little.
I know you want to get her together quick, but I advise you to just take time to do everything right. When the time comes, it will come soon enough my friend. :)

who took your garage?

Despite advice telling us not to buy one, we bought a bi-level Rob. They have no basement and no attic. So our garage is everything! And it is full of junk! There is nothing left we can throw out. I need a barn or a new house!

Thx Keith. That's pretty much what I have already done. It's all done. What you see in the pic is a re assembly of the bike after being completely torn down. Every last nut and bolt was wire wheeled and polished and everything painted. All that is left is to paint the tank, fairing and side covers. And to polish my V&H. I need the engine. Been waiting for it with this much done since March. :(

Okie-doke Mark. Just wondering if you had missed some things.
For what good it does...you're not alone. :)

I appreciate that. It's going to happen. I just wanted it done this year. I was hoping to spend this winter working on my Turbo project. Not this one still too.

But hey, it's all fun :) Just wish I had more room.

OH! That sounds interesting. :)

You must have missed that whole thing Keith. I finally found my 82 Seca Turbo that I have been wanting to replace and am buying it from fellow forum member joe.d

Here are the pics since I am sure the thread is gone by now.

But that isn't for this thread. And doesn't belong on this forum really :)

I also found a set of clocks to replace the kilo clocks that are on it with US MPH ones for only 20 bucks :)

Well Hoomgar,

You may win this........

Is your motor done? IF mine gets done tomorrow or Sat I won't be able to get it ....working.....that would be a drag.

Chin up M8... we are almost there!

See that's the point man. The reason the lawn looks like that in that photo is because the snow had just recently melted away. That photo is from March! 8O

I have heard nothing. I am sure to lose this one. :(

I have so much other stuff going on right now that I may just comit myself by the weekend. I can't do it all. And on top of that, I need to go back to the doctor. This supposed pulled groin is now hurting up inside in my intestinal area. Both my mom and my uncle died from intestinal cancer. I need to go get checked out again.

Strenth to carry on is waning.

I have an update. The plans changed today after talking with my engine builder.

Instead of pushing to get it done this year yet I am going another winter. I mean this was in order to have it for what??? A few more weeks of riding weather? I have decided to let it go into the next winter now and finish it right. It has gone this far now. Plus I wasn't planning on finishing the cosmetics until winter anyway so no biggie. I have now decided to put the engine back on the bench for the season and we are going to do a bit more work.

Joe is going to perform a more complete porting of the head as well as a better polish than we were going to go with. Then when that is done and we glass bead the head and cylinder we are going with a set of larger racing cams and heavier valve springs (the reason for the change in porting for more top end flow).

We are also going to raise the compression a bit. What we are shooting for is the perfect balance of performance & reliability. We want to push it up a bit but keep it completely streetable with no worries about reliability. It's not a drag bike :)

The good note here is what we are doing Joe has already done to more GS1000's than all of us have ever owned and he knows the outcome :)

He wont give me an close number because he said it can vary a lot as each engine is unique but he feels sure that we will see tripple digit numbers on the dyno when we test it after break in and balance.

That said, I am very excited again and at this point have no worries waiting through the winter again because this riding season is already coasting to an end and I had a good year despite no GS.

Now if it works out well (as I plan to keep on top of it this time) I will have the whole project done for spring 2005.

Well katman, looks like you win this years race to completion :)

I know this isn't the news a lot of you wanted to hear but I truely am happy with this decision and look forward to having it done right.

Rock on! :)

It's a good one Hoomie,

we all win at this brother. I already have a few ideas to do this winter but I am hoping to get the beast broken in before putting her to bed for winter....

If I thought it would be this long I would have done what you are doing then you have a full season to run her for breaking in. My engine is half complete and I am told couple more days so onward I go.

Patience my friend, and you will reap a harvest of horsepower and kneck injuries from people catching a look as you rip on by...ahahahahah

Hear that Mark?! When you finally do get your project completed, after all the time, money and frustration is over and you're actually riding the bike for the first time, you're gonna get sued! 8O Ain't life grand?!

buddy hasn't started my motor yet....ahahahahah

Maybe you will win after all..........don't forget the 12.9 hardened allen bolts for your starter clutch.......while it is apart.

hey hoomgar,

I visited when I was logged out and saw you have a slide show avatar going....nice.
