A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Were can i buy a new crome backing plate s for under the gauges> i checked bike bandit says discontinued

ebay is your best bet but its rare to find a decent pair together. often they come up as rusty battered parts and sometimes the odd NOS appears but very rarely as a pair.
i spent ages searching for a decent pair but ended up getting mine rechromed instead.

I agree with Adrian...lots of these odds and ends are getting more scarse. Maybe find one side on the Bay and then the other later..but rarely a real nice set together. I ave a few sets that are crappy but can be salvaged with a good rechromers touch.

I thin k someday I will just gather the not so good stuff and see IF i can find abargain full batch dipping price. Makes it more economical the more parts you can "bundle" into a dip.

if you just bought some, why are you asking where to get them from?

Just remember there's a extra wire on the GS1000E for the self cancelling turn signals, distance counter.

Well..he probably found some on the bay after his inital post is what I would guess. Then posted he just bought some..half an hr AFTER asking the initial question.

I thought about Dale (Rustybronco) when I saw this thread. Dale has, or used to have a bunch of Gs1000 gauges and stuff. I sent him 3 oldies, not necessarily goodies gauge clusters. Checked E-bay and it scary how rare and expensive these old parts are becoming.
Check out this GS1000 petcock.

77 / 78 750 petcocks fit perfectly on the 1000s..only difference is the facings of the nipples. But a 750 one is way cheaper than a 1000 one..so cut the expense any way possible these days.

no i have the gauges and got them at joes used cycle tue then i went home went on bike bandit and seen so much discontinued wasnt happy .joes is in north dartmouth MA
