A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Bummer, I feel your pain as I have been there. On the bright side, I bet you will do a great job on the second go. Don't give up
Yeah more that a little bit bummed out here.Pinched both new tubes the same day.Tail and under seat are fine so I just have to redo the tank.Get to smooth out some of the small stuff I missed to so it's not all bad

Finished the pinstripes, these old hands don't work the same as 20 years ago but they turned out good, just took longer than I remember :)

Putting clear on the the tank, tail cowl and under seat trim now.

Also wiring in a used FH010 regulator rectifier off an 04 ZX10 that I got.

3 coats of clear on, may do one more later tonight, we'll see. Some orange peel but all in all I'm happy with it - wet sand and buff tomorrow.

I think you're gonna have a really sharp looking bike when you get through.

Thanks !!!! This is the really really fun part now, final stuff and final assembly.

Working the painted bits. Ended up with 3 coats of clear, which is actually 6 coats, medium wet, 10 minute flash then another medium wet coat. Then 10 hours dry time in between.

Wet sanding now. Start with 1000, then 1500, then 2000. Followed by a fine cut polish and then glazed and this is the result

Finished the carb balancing today and then took her out for a hop, she absolutely flies. Did the ton then emergency braked from there, felt good. Spent a few miles in the twisties and she handles great.

Ended up with the mains at 138 and the dyno needles 2nd notch from the bottom with the Ape pods, plugs look good.

Made up some rubber bumpers for the tabs on the side covers out of 3/32 sheet rubber, turned out good I think.

Got the new petcock installed, the seat trim after buffing it out and gave her a treat of a new agm battery.

New reg putting out 13.2 at idle and 14.1 at 5K. Some final polishing tomorrow then a photo session and will of course post em here.

Outrageous!!! Beautiful bike!
I love the red skunk MUCH better than the run of the mill black ones. ;)

Thanks much, it's been a good project and I am happy with the results. I really like the red with the white and gold stripes.

Now if I could just get my signals to blink I would be happy. Good grounds, good power, they all light up but won't flash. Took the switch apart and cleaned it, have voltage there. Changed out the flasher and same result. Have 12+ volts at the flasher, 12+ volts out of the flasher.

Put new lamps (12v 23W) in all 4, no change. Have to dig into the wiring print. The left hand switch assembly I have is off an E model so maybe wiring is different?
