A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1978 gs1000e

Good to find this thread. Parts look amazing... =^.^= I'm sad at my inability continue with her, but she's looking good!

So, the second pic, the swingarm is a GPZ? Looks like one with eccentric adjuster.Any modding to get that to fit / work?

Just purchased front and rear GSXR wheels. 18" each.

I will be picking up VHT silver for the case and black for the cylinders and head today. I plan on cleaning everything with a diluted 10:1 POR marine clean then a final flush with hot water to ensure all glass media and any residual oil is removed and then bake it in the over at 250 for a thorough drying prior to paint. After paint it will get baked again.

I will be checking out a SV1000s front end today to take measurements.

Hopefully engine will be reassembled by the end of the month.

I am going to do some minor mods to the blast cabinet so I can soda blast the carbs and then disassemble and sonic clean and reassemble with all new gaskets and seals.

Been awhile since I have posted here. Work has been ongoing, frame has had bracing, engine has been painted, Bandit 1200 front end done. Bandit 1200 front and rear wheels added with a 170 rear tire. Frame is going to get painted this week as are wheels and many other parts.

Rear sets from a 1998 gsxr750 installed. 530 conversion with 5/8 front offset sprocket, 17/47 sprockets with DID xring pro street chain ( narrowest I could find).

More pics to come...

Only the cylinders and head were painted with VHT caliper paint and then baked @ 250 for 3 hours

Carb bodies after bead blasting, physically cleaned, sonic cleaned and painted with vht caliper paint.

Looks awesome! I'm glad to see that so much more work is being on on her. Very impressive! I hope my little things done to the tank helped out. I'm sure it could be sanded/smoothed better. =^.^=

EDIT: Looks like you are at an Airplane Hangar. That's wicked.

Yup working in my hanger at the college where I teach.

The tank is in pretty bad shape so all the work you did was removed to access the total damage. Attempted to weld it up but there were so many holes on the bottom that another plan has risen.

The holes were patched with fuel proof epoxy and aircraft fuel tank sealer. The sides were faired and the emblem recesses filled in. The pinch welds were filled in flush andnow there is going to be 2-3 layers of carbon fiber layer up then clear coated. The same carbon fiber will be going on the front fender and tail fin.:dancing::dancing:
