A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

They make inserts, but probably need a longer length of straight. I heard a BSA with them and it really worked well. I would like to put one in my 3" straight turbo exhaust. I just don't like a loud droning noise and feel like a jerk making all kinds of noise. Sort of sums up my life actually.

I could make some baffles to fit it the straght 👍

A cursory google search surprisingly reveals quite a few options, actually (I won't expect those to be of the same efficiency as a full-size muffler, but at least one isn't a complete a$s).

Maybe a Dunstall or Emgo Dunstall replica muffler will clear the footrests.
I like the classic look of them.

^^that could run parallel to the ground…it’s the clearance I would evaluate next.

Are you going to be leaning in those curves with this bike?

I did have a set of these originally on the bike before rearsets, these pipes look great but I believe only if they angle up at the back. I'm not sure they would look any good running parallel with the ground.

Definitely going to be leaning this bike , that's what it's set up for 👍

Painting her green.

Painting her green.

Nearly finished this project, got some paint on her yesterday. Just waiting for some custom white '79' decals for the tank and rear hump.

White engine decals

A quick one to knock over today, some white paint on the engine decals.

Here they are originally in gold and black.

Decals on and ready for gloss

Decals on and ready for gloss

Good morning all, last night I got the decals on the paint after giving it a sand ready.

I'm hoping to pick the seat up today for the upholsterer so I can finally take this beast for a ride.

Decals

Decals

Now to scuff them lightly get 3 coats of gloss on the decals and then sand again for the final 3 coats of gloss to bury the decals in the paint.

Hey Cranny, just realized you’re in Tasmania. Wondering if you happen to know of Andy’s Motorcycle Obsession YT channel or if you know Andy. He’d appreciate your build. Was, maybe still is a member here when he was rehabbing a GS a couple of years ago.
