A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello gsresources. My name is Adam and I am a new member. I have been kinda poking around for a little bit and have finally decided to get up some pictures of my project. I got the gs850 for $250 plus a trade for a sub-woofer. it ran (a little rough) and drove, and came with a clear title. I haven't had much time to work on it since i got it at the end of last season and here in NY it was below freezing most of the winter. The guy i got it from had started a cafe-ish build with it. It came with the pod filters, vance and hines 4-1, and weird seat and tail light. He stated that he cleaned the carbs which i can only take his word for at the moment. He did say that it needs the valves adjusted and it came with the small tool to do this. I have downloaded a full manual for it and will be getting it into a driving and inspectable state. I don't know if there is anyone in my area that might be willing to lend a hand. I am a auto mechanic by trade and very handy. This is my first motorcycle and don't quite know my way around them yet. I also kinda put the cart before the horse and still have my permit but i will have my license in the beginning of april, thanks to a motorcycle class. I have been researching the different ways to go with a build and i really like the looks of a cafe racer type. I have obtained some parts to that end and I also have a 1980 gs850 for parts ($100 with title not running).
Here is the current state of my base:

I want to put back on the stock tail light and for now use the seat from the parts bike. I have a clubman handle bar and will eventually use a mini tach and spedo. I also have a cafe style seat but i have a fiance that wants to ride with me so i will keep the double seat until have a have a chance to get another or one for her. I don't want to get to crazy at this point i just want to get riding on something that i think looks good and is reliable. So I am making this a rolling build. Any input and advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Adam.

If you are going caf?, you really don't need those side covers. Drop them off to me here in NE Ohio. :p

Good find. Have a look at Cliff's site here.: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/

Manual, carbs, and everything else you will ever need for that one.

Keep us updated with the build!
