DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am currently watching a set of 1979 gs850 headlight ears on ebay, and am wondering if they will fit my 1983 gs850g? I need a set so that I can ditch my vetter fairing.

Thanks

Hi,

I think they'll fit. The forks are the same size. Check the part number and use the parts cross-reference procedure on my website to be absolutely sure.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

I'll look late this evening and tell you for sure if they will fit.

83's are chrome and the 79's are black (I'm watching them also...)

I donated mine to a good cause and I'm just rebuilding my stock. (don't have to have them)

You talking about the ones going for 9.99 in Lakeville? I'm watching them as well. I don't desperately need them, was just going to get a pair ready to replace those on my '79 850 the PO bent up when I get round to doing the fork seals.

Let me know so I don't bid against anyone. ;)

EDIT: the auction I'm watching ends in around 5hrs so you still going to be able to check before then rustybronco?

Part #'s for 83 850G are:
R 51530-49470
L 51540-49470
No alternate #'s listed

Part #'s for 79 850G are:
R 51530-45100-291
L 51530-45100-291
Updated # is 51500-45810-291

As listed on alpha sports

Please speak up if you're going to bid on these, I don't wish to jack the price for any one here.

bid away, I havent completly made up my mind on them yet

How about you then rustybronco?

Like I said, I'm not desperate for them either. Perhaps we should have one each? Actually I think there's a second pair up for auction as well, just didn't put those in my watch window because the starting bid was higher, 14.99 if I remember.

I'll see if I can find them...

EDIT: the auction I'm watching ends in around 5hrs so you still going to be able to check before then rustybronco?
I'll try to do it on my way to the hospital.
(one of my best friends is in intensive care)
IIRC it will.

Saaawwweeeeeeeet!

(I'm out of the bidding process "on any of them")

Ooopps, just checking I read your last post correctly so I don't screw up here. The link you posted is the pair I'm talking about and was planning to bid on.

That ok or would you like 'em?
