A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

All of sudden lost all my light's. ..tail lights headlight gage lights....fuse is good.

That happened to me once, but it was the fuse. I never did find the problem, and it's still problem free years later.

Yes, start here-change fuses, no matter how good they look. then remove fusebox and inspect its internals.

Head light is on different fuse than the taillight and instrument lights.

DOes Ignition work?
If Ignition does work then I would not suspect the key swtich, but suspect the fuse block itself.

Find a spare fuseblock on ebay.
They changed about the 82 year.

And.... is hard to troubleshoot electrical problem with your eyballs. Need a voltmeter, or at least a test light probe.

I have the exact same bike and I had the same problem a few days ago. And I didn't realize it until right before dark when an F350 pulled out in front of me due to me having no headlight!

In my case I initially thought it was a bad ignition plug but it turned out to be a different plug. I didn't even bother tracing down what it goes to but it is a white 9 pin plug (with only 8 pins in it I believe) that is located up under the ignition coils toward the back.

I was lucky because saved the wire harness from my parts bike and all of the plugs on it are in good shape so all I had to do was remove the pins and transfer them to a new plug socket. I cleaned everything up, sanded them down, gooped on some dielectric grease and it now it works great. No more flickering dash lights either.

Probably the multi function switch on the bars. I lost my lights on I-95 at 70 mph by hitting the high beam switch.
I replaced mine with GS650G controls, much better now.

Found the issue.. no power from brown from ignition switch. Bridged orange and brown and all good now. Going on 100 miles now.. thought I would post my findings. Thank to bass cliffs wire diagram. Sure help out a bunch

There is no power FROM the brown wire. :-\\\

The brown wire is fed from the GRAY wire when the ignition switch is in the ON position and from the RED wire when the switch is in the PARK position.

.

See I must have a bad ignition switch. Because 1 click "On I'm only getting power to orange and red in park in only got red nothing else

I have some good ignition switches if you need one.
Did you try to clean the contacts?
