I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

1980 GS1000G front tire recommendations?

Can't be sure on an '80 without checking it. Check the wheel for a phrase indicating something like "tubeless tire applicable". It'll be in the dark gray painted area near where the balancing weights go. Some wheels were converted by machining them to accept a tubeless valve stem, but they don't have the bead lock ridge near the edge of the wheel. Only a problem if you lose all pressure, but you'd be in trouble anyway.

I don't think the '80 front rims are rated "tubeless", but that's not a problem, just get a tube and install it.

Now, about that tire, ... you can do MUCH better, budget or not.

Shinko Tour Master 230 from Motorcyclesuperstore.com. $57.99 in the proper size.
A rear tire is $75.99, free shipping if you get both of them.

From personal experience, I would not even put Kenda Challengers on the bike to roll it onto a trailer to get it home.

The back rim says it's for a tubeless tire but I looked at the front rim again and it says "N 19xMT1.85 DOT", no mention of tube or tubeless. The tire that's on the front says "tubeless on tubed type rim fit tube"

So I can use the tires you mentioned, I just need to add a tube?

Thanks.

Ok, so I will go with the Shinko tire....any suggestions on what and where to buy as far as the tube goes?

I've got Shinko's on my 80 1000G and so far they're great, bought them from motorcycle superstore. I've only put 400km on them so don't have much of a review, but have rode them in rain and had good grip. Have hit the corners at 9000 and they handled well.

Excellent.

Going to try to order everything today. Any suggestions on the brand or model of tube?

Might be a non-issue at this point. I just looked at the rim on the parts bike and it's tubeless, plus it doesn't have any rattle can overspray on it so I think I'm just going to switch rims. Thanks for the replies!

I just ordered the tires Steve mentioned, order them from Motorcycle superstore, free shipping and arrived 2 days after I ordered them! terrylee

Just received my tire and have one word of caution.....if you are going to buy from these guys order directly off their website. I ordered through them on Amazon since I was already going to order some pods, and Motorcycle Superstore hit me with sales tax on their part of the sale. It looks like they don't charge tax when you order from their site directly.

Emailed them to ask why, so we'll see.
