DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey, I picked up a GS450 for my Dad for christmas. The bike was in really good condition except for some dirty carbs and a sluggish throttle response.

I took the carbs apart and soaked them in Yamalube. That seemed to help throttle response drastically. Problem is i still have some mid range power issues. The bike runs fine with the throttle cracked open and runs ok with the throttle wide open but It bogs down at part throttle.

I noticed while I was cleaning the carbs that there were some after market K&N filters on them. I also noticed that there are pressure or vacume advance slits on the intake side of the carb. If this is obstructed, even slightly would this cause part throttle problems?

By the way, i shaved the rubber inside the K&N filters near those slits and It may have helped some. I'm not that familiar with this bike so I'm not really sure.

If this wasnt enough detail please let me know. I'll be glad to provide more. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Billy

I'm guessing the last owner put the pods on without rejetting the carbs.
Check to see what jets it has, and what position the needle is in.. maybe raise the needles

Cool, I'll give that a shot.

When I bought it the guy said he had tried to re jet the carbs but the bike didnt run well aftwards so he put the stock jets back. I dont really know whether they're stock or not. Or how to tell the difference.

Thanks again. B

It'll need re-jetting / playing with the needles for sure. There's loads of info on here on how to do it (use the search feature) but if you get stuck ask the question and it'll get answered.
