DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello and thank you all for the help you have given me already. I have cleans my carbs and put the jets all back rather snug. Now my bike won't take any fuel it seems. I have played with the adjustable screws where the air filters goes and the screws on top. But still nothing on its own. When I spray starter fluid it is very happy and then nothing. Any ideas?

OK, I'll play along. What "adjustable screws where the air filters goes" are you talking about? You are making it sound like you have pod filters instead of the stock airbox, which would have ONE filter. For the record, there are no adjustable screws near the intakes of the carbs. The jets that are there should be installed snuggly and left alone.

As for the ONLY externally-adjustable items on the carbs, where do you have them set?

How did you "cleans" the carbs? Did you do a full "strip-and-dip" cleaning with carb dip?

Did all the internal passages get cleaned out?

Where did you set the float levels?

Have you adjusted the valves? No, they are not carb-related, but tight valves do cause hard starting.

Do yourself and your bike a favor, THROW THE STARTING FLUID AWAY.

.

Make sure that your fuel line is not connected to a vent T. Check for fuel by loosening a drain plug on the float bowl.

You are much more likely to get help with a problem if you are a bit more specific. You adjusted two things on the carburetors after cleaning? Was the bike running before the cleaning? Some info of that sort would be helpful otherwise folks will tell you to measure compression, check valve clearances, check voltage and spark, etc. Why all these different ideas tossed out? Because your question was like someone asking, "how do I get there" without saying where there is... What makes you think the carburetors are not getting gas? What position did you have your petcock in? Did you check your float bowls for gas? Get a bit more specific and provide some detail and help will get more focused.
