A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1980 Wes Cooley in the garage....finally!

Was awesome to read this whole thread, you guys did great job and what a bike to have in your garage!

Usually means low oil pressure.

Sort of. These roller bearing cranks only use about 2 - 3 lbs oil pressure at best so it makes the oil pressure switch finicky and prone to that type of flickering if it's not 100% especially when you add an oil cooler take off right at the switch. Usually nothing to worry about.

Put a set of high volume oil pump gears in it. $127 USD shipped to your Canadian door...Dar

Or a loose wire at the sensor?? Just noticed it was flickering.

If the light was full on that would cause it to flicker off then on but if it had oil pressure and the light was off it would make no difference.

That's right - the wire has to ground to complete the circuit, not be open circuit.

Could also be a dirty / clogged pressure switch.

On my '79 1000 when I had the oil cooler on it the light would flicker a bit if the idle was low and motor was hot. I removed the oil cooler because up here you really don't need it anyway and voila, no more flickering.

Ok guys...you're freaking me out! Lol.......I have to investigate the wiring at the sensor....
Rob put in the new Honda reg/rec I picked up for 35 bucks at my local salvage yard and new Rick's stator....
Think there was a problem?....lol

and new stator cover with an emblem....even if it's not the correct one....

Actually I have two L's now an 850 found me and it was free. It's a good story because my wife told me not to buy it so my buddy bought it and then decided he really didn't need another project so he gave it to me. Both the bikes run but are in the refurbishment process. I'm looking for a set of handlebars for the GS1000G or GS850G. The L models had horrible wheelbarrow bars and the old bars from my GS1000G are perfect especially riding with a pillion passenger. I'm good on the throttle tube and it was really fun to help Rob.
