Hello all! Brand new to the forum. First post. Just getting into motorcycles and trying to gain more knowledge. Picked up the bike listed in the subject heading dirt cheap. It is in really good shape, around 9000 miles on it. However I bought it somewhat disassembled and missing parts. My first goal is to get it together enough to get it running. I am not of the traditionalist mindset when it comes to this rebuild, having said that I hope I'm not in the wrong place with this forum. I am leaning toward opening up the air and exhaust on this thing.....cutting the exhaust and pod filters. It's my impression through reading different forums that the carbs need to be rejected if this is done. So I guess my question is 2 parts. 1, what is the best jet size for what I want to do. 2, does doing this cause premature engine wear, valve problems, etc? A little about myself as related to experience.....not a mechanic but mechanically inclined, I've rebuilt the top ends of engines in autos I've had, with the help of a manual. Also, years of experience in metal fabrication.
