A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I just recently bought a 1981 Gs1000, I am really locate a set of carb's for it, i am striking out on locating them, can anyone out here help me out, kinda on a tight budget as well

Yes
The sixteen valve has a smaller main air jet so you probably won't run the stock main jets.

Cool because i got a gentleman up here in KCK that's offering to sell a set of carb's of a gs1100 and he said that they might fit, i wanted to double check this is my first big gs model i have owned

Did you not get a set of carbs with the bike?

I sure didn't. I am trying to hunt them down and a gas tank, and complete headlight assembly to. What all do i need to the carbs so i can install them?

Hi,

The GS1000 and GS1100 both use BS34SS carbs (1980+). But you will have to jet them for your bike. Check my website for the stock jetting chart. You should also replace the intake boots and O-rings. You should probably do a complete rebuild on the "new" carbs, dip them, and install an O-ring kit from http://cycleorings.com.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

where can i get replacement intake books, for the carb's to install onto the motor, I am gonna possibly run pod filters upon it because i cant locate a air filter box at all anyplace

You can get the parts from Z21enterprizes.com or check Basecliff's site for the many links to part vendors. If you go to pods you will need to get a jet kit !!

i greatly appreciate all the warm help and knowledge that you all are sharing with me, i will forever be in debt to you!

Chef i heard that u have a plug that u would pull out of a dead carb for the carbs i am gonna buy from tkent02?

sometimes when i have removed the float bowl...the plug stuck to the gasket and the gasket to the bowl.
beat the carb body on a piece of wood before you get the grinder out.
I've had them fall out and some welded in.
Weird

The bike that had these carbs on it, the plug was just gone. Dunno where it went, the plug can't fit through the hole into the venturi.
It was blowing so much fuel smoke, the PO thought it "Blew a ring"
That's pretty weird, too.

Awesome, well Tkent02, we are deifnatley getting the carbs from you, and chef what do u want for the plug , Yall are really knowledgeable, now hopefully the retard i bought it from will bring my tank to me, since he forgot it at his daddies house, if not hunting that part next, thank god for my bottle feeder to start this puppy
