A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just ordered my braided brake line off eBay as well, so should be here in a couple of weeks.

Weird how you can order it and get it shipped from Canada for $15 less than where they make them about a half hour from here, and I suspect that this seller will actually respond to emails and questions whereas the local mob can't be bothered even when the listing on their website is obviously wrong and stops you being able to buy it...

Goodridge, Pete?
Let me know how much too long they are when you get them..

Cynical? Me?

That place (Rennsport) is actually on my way to work. Definitely going to order from there when/if I get new lines.

Hahaha no not Goodridge! I remember your dramas...

I was going to go HEL but they list the 450E kit for $108 including two brake lines... it's single disk!

I used the contact info on their website to ask for a clarification as I was prepared to spend the $54 to buy a line, but instead I'm spending $39.10 in Canada because HEL don't respond to electronic communication... sorry I ain't got time to ring usually...

Yup that's the one! Same place Greg (SVSooke) and others have used, so happy to just buy from them.

Just be carefull when you go for your RWC Pete - they won't pass them if they don't have an Aust. ADR compliance number code on them. I rang Qld Transport a while back and there's only a few brands they will accept as legal.

Not such a drama when its already registered, but you could run into dramas going for your initial rego RWC if you have O/S ones fitted?

Yeah I've heard that and knowing my luck it'll fail because of it, but I'm hoping they'll see the DOT and SAE codes on the line and assume it's ok, not sure what they actually look for to identify them.

Guess I could always put the old rubber line on just to pass the safety certificate

I think HEL are ADR approved. I can't find anything to prove or deny it though.

That was a question raised by the brake mob down here about Goodridge.
He said they were brilliant quality, aircraft grade stuff, but not ADR approved.

It may be a good idea to leave the old lines on until after the inspection.

Hmmm.. How will that exhaust go?

They are, which is the second reason I wanted to use them (along with supporting local business)...

I'm guessing it may be safer to insult my new master cylinder and rebuild caliper by putting the old crappy rubber hose on... just so long as I don't actually leave it and ride it that way!

The pipe and pods will be fine as it's pre-1996 :D (at least I think that's the year, can't remember exactly but it's all clear to go on that front)

Hopefully it won't come to that Pete and you'll get a good guy for your RWC :)

By the way HEL are definately ADR approved. And I think you can order them with or without the ADR numbers stamped on depending on your use. I ordered a new custom length top hose a while back when I put on the higher bars, but haven't been able to afford the rest of them yet :( Good people to deal with tho. They have a good website too.

Yeah I hope so Rick, really don't want to put that old dodgy hose on if I can avoid it.

Unfortunately they list the line incorrectly for my 450 (listed as a single disc kit with two lines) so I couldn't just order it and they didn't respond to my query about it... will keep them in the back of my mind if the Rennsport one doesn't work out though.

Bit of a bugger not being able to afford the others but fingers crossed you'll able to before too much longer :)

Tomorrow is painting day... or at least it should be if everything goes to plan...

Like a battle plan? You know what happens to those.
Good luck,hope it goes well.

Well... it wasn't a disaster, but I'm not quite where I wanted to be...

I'm uploading pic's and will update the paint thread shortly...

Well... it wasn't a disaster, but I'm not quite where I wanted to be...

Listen carefully, I am going to say it again.
It.....is.....fine......you.....are.....where.....you.....are, don't.....rush.

Repeat after me;
If.....I.....rush.....I.....am.....going.....to.....F*ck.....it.....up.

Another week in your life is going to make no difference on a 10 year project, Pete.
I will bet you a dozen slabs you will never see Larry chasing the clock on any of his jobs, when its done, its done.

Now take a deep breath, calm down to a panic and dazzle us with what you can do, after all, it may be cheaper to ship Jennifer's clothes to you than Dale to get done.
Talking of which, dale is spot on with the excelent advise, tweak the gun for a bit more paint delivery, looks like it is going on pretty dry there, pattern looks good, take that from where it comes.
