A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Awesome score Pete, you lucky bugger. :dancing:
I will of course be expecting to see the restoration thread........................after you are done with the 450. :-\\\

Cheers Stan! Yeah not sure how I lucked into this one, but if I can get it running it will be a really cool little project :D

Actually it'll probably be a bigger project than the 450... the internals are apparently comparable to a Swiss watch

And yes, the 450 is being done first, no doubt about that whatsoever :D

Wheel bearings arrived today:

Notice anything missing?

Yeah... parts fiche shows 3 bearings for the rear wheel, only two in that package... I've emailed the seller to find out if I ordered the wrong set or if there is indeed one bearing missing...

Front ones look ok though...

I bought my fork seals from the same place. I was a bit shocked when I got them. I find it strange that the company's logo is a eye of providence (The all seeing eye - aka Illuminati aka new world order!)....

The seller also says they are in Australia, which they are not, they are in NZ. So I found it a bit shady...seals looked good though ! haha.

Plan A:
1. Restore.
2. Make huge profit.
3. Finance Bathurst Katana Project.

Hmmm... Bathurst Katana Project... hmmm... actually a stock/restored 750 popup would do me nicely... or a T500... ;)

I like you're thinking Leigh :D

New world order? Is that what I'm financing with this purchase? What was wrong with the old world order? :p

Yeah I was under the distinct impression they were coming from Australia too, but the postage definitely originated from NZ.

I'm also *still* waiting for a reply to my message. He better answer soon or negative feedback goes on and I'll look for some elsewhere...

I used to really, really, really like the popups too.
Then Ross let me go play on his big Kat.
I was sold.

Haha yeah I think the 750 will still do me just fine if my wrist can cope with the riding position.

Given my 450's enough for what I generally want, I would think a 750 would be more than fine for me :)

Of course I could always just get one of each... and a new garage to put them in

Ok, first off, finally got a reply from the eBay seller I got the wheel bearings from, and it turns out that they supply the third bearing separately as it's actually for the sprocket carrier rather than part of the wheel.

It would be nice if they could highlight that as part of the auction, but at least I know what the deal is and it's a whole extra $8.00 to get it to me, so that should be on its way soon I hope.

Anyway, got this in the post today:

One brand new back-ordered fuel tap:

It even has an O ring... means I didn't need to buy one separately but it's a bit hard to tell from the fiche if it came with it or not, so at least now I have a spare.

Certainly looks a lot better than the old clapped out one:

And in case you're not following my paint thread, the tail piece has had putty applied and is currently being sanded:

Got an awful lot more sanding and potentially more puttying to do yet...

There are so many colours of putty that you can ge..Oh yeah.
Yeah, yeah, terrible that they only make pink putty.

(I saved you there, Pete)

Refer to "The Blob" coment posted elsewhere... LOL
"Blokey"... pink.... I get it! You Mates from Oz crack me up!
OK maybe I am a little toasty... a lil... "hic"... maybe.

Hahaha the only "toasty" I'm getting at the moment is from the fumes from the putty... horrid stuff!

And yeah that thing's still causing me grief, I really think I made a bad choice in putty... should've gone body filler I think!

That ducati engine is too cool. A small motor powered bike has been on my list of things to make for a while. I was thinking steel frame 70's road bike would make the perfect chassis to start with....

Looking forward to paint on the 450 though.

Yeah it is pretty damn cool Tim Tom! Definitely looking forward to digging into that one :D

I think anything '70's or older would definitely be the right place to start, and then you can go pretty much wherever you want with it... but I'm doing my best not to think about that yet ;)

I'm looking forward to the painting too actually, because that will mean this damn tail piece that's whipping my butt will be done...

Looks like I'm on the hunt for some body filler and lower grit sand paper tomorrow and I'm hoping like hell I end up with the day off so I can actually get the stuff...

So this tail piece is really kicking my butt, but thanks to Dale and Larry I should have a way forward tomorrow, errr it's today now... gotta love working this time of morning... twiddling thumbs waiting for stuff to happen... at least I get to jump on and update this :)

Anyway, my mirrors arrived today and yeah well they're cheap but they'll get me a safety certificate as well as let me see behind...

If things go to plan I should be able to have a bit of a snooze and have the day off which means some stuff around the house then picking up some sand paper, safety goggles, a light for painting, and some body filler.

If things go better than planned I might even get some fibre glass filling done as well... we shall wait and see...
