A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I saw in earlier posts that if running pods the two vent tubes can be removed. No worries. But there is also a tube in front of the carbs that I suppose hooks to the tank for vacuum. Does it? If so I would think I can just block it off, as I'll be using a Pingel petcock that is gravity fed. Anybody?

Vacuum port

Vacuum port

You'll want to cap it for sure since the Pingel you'll be using isn't a vacuum type of petcock. (I think they make one but that's not the one you'll end up with.)

P.S. If you were running a stock petcock, that's where the tube from the carb would connect.

Hey Chucky, thanks for the post. As I was looking at the carbs before putting them on I saw that that tube is a straight shot into the venturi area. Blocked it and siliconed it to be sure. The vent tubes I just removed, but I'm thinking of blocking those too, since I don't know what they're venting and I don't want dirt etc. getting pulled into them.

You're welcome!!:) And, Ray's right!!;)

Nothing goes to the tank from the petcock or carbs. There is a line that goes from the petcock to the #2 carb. There is a drain line on the tank itself. Don't block this one off.

Yeah, you don't want to block the vent tubes as if you do, you wont be getting any fuel into the float bowls. You need the vents to vent the air that was in your float bowls to allow more fuel in.

The pressure of gravity would not be able to overcome the pressure required to 'squash' the air inside the float bowls to allow more fuel in.

If you were worried about contaminants the run small lines pointing down. This shoudl stop moisture and grit getting in. Probably not stricktly legal really as you would be venting gas to air which is a big no no.

That's exactly the way it's done on the stock application!;)
