I have a 1982 gs1100, it wouldnt fire on left coild so i added new wire and ignitior box and now it will fire on both coils but the right one will only fire if u hold the spark plug off the head and it will jump from plug to head. Any ideals?
Also, will these parts fit by bike? its a 1982 gs1100g shaft drive. 8v. here are the links

Only spark if you hold the plug off the head? Never heard of that one before but is the spark plug good/not shorted, if they are good you need to check your coil.

Fouled plug... clean or replace. (replace)
the spark is traveling through the center conductor then down the surface of the insulator to the outer shell, not jumping the gap, then jumping from the shell to the head.

ok ill try that, could any one tell me if those things off ebay will work on my bike?

Yup, sounds like a bad plug.

The stator should work in your bike but the signal generators won't (I don't think they will anyway since your bike has electronic advance). Coils should work as well. That said, I don't think you need the ignition parts. Replace the plug caps maybe if anything.

Good luck.

Sparking problem is definately a faulty plug. I had exactly the same problem. The issue was the plug became glazed over with the rubbish they put in unleaded fuel these days. Tried a new plug and off it went. No more missing on one cylinder any more. BTW the plug that was faulty had only been in the bike a few minutes. It had not even ran long enough to change colour. Best of luck.

Can't help with the parts as I own a 550, but recently I bought a generator cover with stator installed from a GS750 which would not physically bolt up to my motor, but the stator which is held in by three screws is the same size as mine and should be able to be removed from one cover and put into the existing one. Depends whether you are buying the part for a decent generator cover or whether you have charging problems and are after the stator. At that price I would buy it anyway. Cheers. Don

i use the same spark plug and check the firing. one problem was it had a clamp around the coil and the coil was puting fire to the clamp so i fixed that. but still i can only get fire out of one coil at a time. What ever coil i hook the white wire up to it wont fire on that coil. i can switch the trigger coils around and it doesnt change any thing.

i just bought the igniter off ebay, do u think the guy cheated me?

when i got the new igiter off ebay i re did the wiring from the igiter to the coils so its not that.

Even when you switch the signal generator around the white wire to the coil won't fire on either coil. That leads me to think it's the igniter. Do you have an electronic advance or mechanical? I have a good igniter for a mechanical advance.
See if you can get your money back for the Ebay part.
Did you have the same problem with the old igniter?

i can switch the blue and gree wire and it will fire on the same coil. if i switch the wite wire over it wont fire on the coil i switch it to, yes i did have the same problem. i dont know what to do?

You can get both sides of the crank trigger (signal generator) to fire?

yea i can switch the green and blue wires but the same coil fires.

Do u think a dyan ignition would fix my bike? if so who has it for the cheapest?

Are you sure the wiring is correct?

Z1 Enterprise has good prices on a Dyna S. I think you need to get a mechanical advance mechanism off an earlier engine to use it though since I think '82's have electronic advance.
