A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1982 suzuki gs650gl bar swap

Forum Sage
Done a bar swap on my bike from the oem ones to some cb400f bars, great change lots more comfort and more focused riding.

Boom throttle cable issues! Yes no surprise here when the bars I got are MUCH smaller than the oem, and i ordered a cable and it is a great length and a great route from the carbs to the throttle tube; the killer is that the fitting for the throttle cable to the casing that holds the throttle tube is way off, what size is the threading for the cable piece that screws onto the tube casing? I dont want to try to mend it in place im sure that'd cause sticking issues with the cable.

Honestly if theres a cable that's the exact same as the gs650gl but 6 inches shorter that's exactly what i need.
If they were exactly the same, they wouldn't be 6 inches shorter.

If they were 6 inches shorter, they wouldn't be exactly the same.

rphillips suggested the 650G cable, I think the 650E is the same.

The 650M cable might be a couple inches shorter yet.

Oops exact same design

You said the bars are from a CB400F. Is the cable as well? If so, what if you got a throttle tube from the same year CB400F as the cable and bars? Surely the end of the cable that fits into the tube would match.

Bars were remakes(CB400F REPLICA) , cables from the gs, it's not the cable it's the fitting you screw on to the throttle/killswitch assembly. Sorry dont know the right words.

I ordered a gs650 katana cable, hopefully itll fit correctly the bars look very similar to cb400f maybe a little taller.

Oof i wish i knew the correct terminology
