A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

just purchased my second gs,1982 450l is on the road and doing fine! now my new project 1983 gs550l is complete minus carbs, any help with part numbers or other models that would work would be very helpful . thanks!

My book says anything from an 83 up (it goes up to an 86) 550 will work. All used the BSW30SS carbs. This is a pair.
Mine are out of the bike and they are Mikuni carbs and the numbers printed just above the fuel bowl say 43510. This is with the intake side on the left, or looking at the right side of the carb, printed lower left side above the fuel bowl.

I've seen them listed on e-bay, or maybe try a motorcycle salvage yard. You'll need the upper and lower brackets that mount them together.

That's the funny two bbl setup that is unique to the 550

I think someone is parting out a 550 on E-bay right now.

1983 gs550l carbs

Ok I have found several sets of carbs all are from 1983 gs550 but they are off of the "E" model not the "L". P/N'S seem to be consistent 43410 however a previous reply the owners 550L carbs where P/N 43510.Does anyone know how to interpret these P/N's?Or would I be ok using either one ?

Once again Thanks for any advice!

Dean, I don't think it matters. My book didn't make any reference to any other designation. It was 83 and up 550's. So don't think it matters if it is an L or E. As long as there are two with the mounting brackets and the part numbers match, you should be able to use them...
