DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1983 GS1100E roller

Forum Newbie
Good Morning from the Eastern Seaboard,
Alright ladies, My name is Dale. I really could use some fricken guidance. I'm an old crusty, crotchety, retired United States Marine. I have an 83 GS1100E. I've owned this gorgeous beast since 1994. Piston skirt cracked back in 96. Broke the bike down, and after 3 months looking, I still couldn't find the matching Wiseco piston to match the other 3. I was told i must of had an old kit that was sitting on the shelf for years. I was a PFC. Couldn't afford all new big bore kit, So I was saving, then duty called. Bike went into storage. She has been down ever since. Ol Suzie only had 7k miles on her. Fast forward, Now I want to go thru the motor and refresh her. Now while doing so I want to make this a nasty drag bike that i will cruise the streets. My only limitation is going to be fuel. I can get 93 at the pump. So while yes its a big limiting factor, fuel is going to be it. Now with that being said Should i stick with 1100 head? go 1150 head? I remember back in the day, guys talking about using the GSXR 750 slingshot head. SO bang for the buck, which head? whose known for porting? With a GS is it best to get a small dome or flat top piston for better flame travel and then shave the head? Header...I used to have a 4 into 1 bob carpenter sidewinder style header. I ran it with no baffle. Whats the best long tube header for making power? My bike had a 1168 big bore kit. So whats the 2nd largest i can go for the stock block? Id like to leave one more bore left incase i ever need it. Cams.... I guess im looking for ideas and recipes to make this bike really make power. Does anyone run water methanol kits? So many questions......Help me out gentlemen. Thank you for your time. Semper Fidelis.
