1983 GS750E- Retro Rocket Build

to heavy for the frame design akwerd, those motors are put in the ccradles in a sertain rake degree way ect..., for the best performance
Time to educate you! The GSXR motor is LIGHTER than the 83 750/85 700 motors! Try again! Ray.

I can tell you with absolute certainty, the bike corners 10x better then stock as it sets, flicks without feeling like I have to stand on the peg in the corners.
With the new US front end setting in the shop, I will be running frt= 120-70-17 , when I am done.
The rear's already sporting the 180-55-17 and is incredible for traction and can tell a dramatic diff in cornering already.
The bike as mentioned because of the newer motor, is lighter then stock.
Once I get done with this broken Ankle, I will install the tank that took me a year to find.
I will then finish the front end and make some videos, using Leon on his SV as the Chase bike.

Peace,
Ron

I like it!

I like it!

Finnish this project. I'm liking it. I have an '81 750 frame and have been thinking of doing something similar. I would of really liked to have seen you make the water pumper work. Keep it rocking dude!

it definately needs the usd front end, that one looks weak, but i bet its goina be fun! lol good work on it man,

I thank You and Welcome any and all critique -
This brings the tally to near 45+ bikes I have owned in almost 30 yyrs I been riding.
Brings the build list to total of about 12 from scratch, & or pieces of pieces ;)

LilTinc- the closeness of the Radiator for the Water pumper
was too close for my comfort (using. stock frt end), was even worse with the USD it would not allow lock to lock turning of the forks.

I would have preferred it, for Turbo Charging reasons.
At the time of turbo charging, the need for boxing would be warranted. IMHO as it sets in it's current configuration, it should need none.
I am not going to be racing it on the track, but rather enjoying it on lightly spirited rides.
But will be content to the Hooligan approach it is headed now.
"Hooligan" being loosely used here.
I am still young at heart, and enjoying making "something out of nothing", and breaking the "norm".
It took me quite awhile to find a reasonably priced usable gas tank for this bike.
I had been looking since spring of 09 found one thanks to oldbaldguy in jan 2010.
I am laying in bed right now with a broken ankle.
I am going no where fast-
6 wks before I can walk, project will be finished this yr I promise.
Just probably not completely until fall.
It is going to be my last Project bike to complete for awhile.
This house I live in now only has a 2 car garage, there was no room here for my toy box.
So the rest of my bikes set in storage, only room for 2 here at one time.
I also acquired a jeep (money pit) so that will take some time as well...:-\\\
I hope to make the GSR Spring Hill Country Ride if possible, but it will be more then likely on the Katana.

Peace-
Ron

Got the rebuilt front end on today, mess of a deal to say the least my local shop won't get another dime from me..

Customer Service seems to be non-existent these days... sad too I like to keep my money local.

anyway enough drama!

Got the front end on REALLY REALLY happy with it, rocks! just need to dial it in for my fat butt..
I Zip Tied the OEM headlight and bucket in to get a feel for it and see if I liked it before investing my precious time into fabbing some brackets.

Bought a BUNCH of stuff off a member here from Canada, another SWEET 83 GS750E Silver tank like mine except rust free and non leaking LOL.
Two side panels as well so those will be on soon enough after some modifying.
Plus some other stuff essentials like matching keys for locksets etc.

Anyways not enough funds left to recover the seat right now.
Going to try and see if the Krause Hard luggage I have on the Katana excuse me Dink LOL :D 89 GSX1100F to be propper ... will fit them on the 83 Retro ROCKET BUILD.

I really enjoyed the ride this afternoon even with the light sprinkles.

Some more small things to do like ~
1) fine tune the Carbs
2) Fab headlight brackets
3) find a block Delrin?? (name escapes me right now) to use for chain slider on the arm
4) make some brackets for the back of the engine
5) find replacement front fender
6) mount my blinkers on the headlight housing
7) find some way to mount mirrors I have or get some that will mount on the bar ends...

without further a due'

Ron when I head up to Dallas for the Lee Parks clinic Oct. 16 I'll have to get in touch with you. Would love to drop by and take a look at that beast. Glad to see you posting up the project again.

@ Billy - It runs pretty good considering the tune, but she definitely runs hard. :D

----------

@ russr33 - hey man Glad I have the opportunity to work on it again to be honest.
I will have to check my schedule for Oct, I have a meeting in Denton, but may be able to meet somewhere.
I have a lot of little things to be addressed it is a work in progress no where near DONE YET.
But we will get her there as time allows. :)

You know, I've always thought the headlights on these builds needs to be the big train headlight, but the rectangular unit looks pretty damn good too.

I was trying to get the train light off the Bike Leon has, but he said it got used to replace a broken one so no luck there..
The square is growing on me..
I do of course have several Dual headlights off mid 80's GSXR's and such.
Dunno we'll see how it grows on me.
I have a complete spare electric windscreen from a 88 GSX110f like my 89.
kicking the idea of mounting it up too...

No the stuff hasn't arrived yet Greg.
This is my backup tank that I keep just in case.
The ignition switch is all jacked up but it turns on and off LOL
Still waiting, figure maybe tomorrow?

Thanks BTW I am excited waiting for the tank and side plates :p:D

Will post pics later of the mirror brackets I made for the bar ends, using some pieces off an DT250.
