DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok, before I look into replacing the instrument cluster on my '83 GS750es, does anyone have a few trouble shooting suggestions that I could try that might help me fix the tachometer on my bike?

FWIW I bought the bike early last winter so I have never seen the tach actually work, so it's anyones guess as to how long it's been since it last worked. Finally fired it up last weekend and that's when I noticed it.

Downloaded the PDF manual off of BassCliff's web site (THANKS!!!) but I'm still at as lost as to why it's not responding.

Thanks.

i haven't heard from nater in a while. he made me a board, but it did not work. you can find the thread. i haven't bothered him about it in a while, i will shoot him a pm and see what is up. I have decided to replace mine with gsxr guages, others have gone with acewell or dime city units. some have replaced capacitors, resistors and the like to achieve....questionable results, it seems. if you figure it out, send me one!

edit, rusty gave the link! nice.

Hmmm, so will a next gen instrument panel "bolt on" to a '83 GS750/'84-'85 GS700?? Like say ... a unit off of a '88 GSX750?

i'm fabricating a bracket for it. you need a model with an e-tach and a mechanical speedo.

here is one thread on aftermarket gauges:
http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?t=202935

there are quite a few more out there. imo, the gxr gauges look the best, i like an analog dial over a digital display anytime. anything you do is going to require some massaging to get to work.

i'll post some pics of mine when it is done, waiting on some electrical bits and i need to get the bracket fabbed.
