DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Postings to the For Sale and Wanted sections will be deleted 90 days after the initial posting date if there has been no activity to the thread in the last 7 days. This is done to eliminate dead posts from the forum.

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1983 Suzuki XN85 Turbo (Not Mine)

Too cool a bike to bastardize. That was a really great machine, though not quite as vicious as the GPz750 Turbo (I had one of those, extremely modified-scared the bejeezus out of me more than once).

extremely modified is supposed to scare the bejeezus out of you, no matter what it started as... Turbo really sounded good but all were kind'f disappointing as far as excitement goes...

A friend of mine and myself both bought bikes in 83 . He opted for the XN-85 and I bought a GS 750 .... We raced a few times and the XN 85 was slower than the 750. Not by a lot but we did it enough times to draw that conclusion .... Mind you it is one fine looking bike .....

Not the GPz. That bike touched 10 second quarters with just minor adjustments. The bike I had was completely rebuilt and modified by Horsepower Unlimited. It made 220 rwhp. It was insanity.

Yes, for me all the Turbos in those yrs. from Suzi, Kawa., Honda, and Yama. were all good looking bikes,.. Mfg.'s, for some reason, didn't seem to want to use much boost as those Turbos were a little, but not a lot, stronger than the non turbo models... What bccap said, I'd think any 650 "with a Turbo", "should" be noticeable faster than most any normally asperated 750 of their day.... but none were.

No doubt the Kawa. GPZ750 Turbo was the most impressive, but none of the ones around here were very exciting, yes fast for a 750, but our dealer sold 4 that I remember, they were close, but not as fast as the GS, KZ, and Honda 1100s we were accustomed to riding.

As I understand it, the Honda CX650 was a strong running bike. Great midrange power. A sport tourer. And nobody could call the KZ750 Turbo pedestrian. It was the Yamaha and Suzuki that were disappointing in terms of power. Nice bikes otherwise, though.

I can't say much about the Honda Turbo, nobody anywhere around here ever had one. Just looked a little about them on Google, claimed 100 HP and 572 lbs. as opposed to Kawasaki 112 HP and 531 lbs... Honda 1/4 mi. times in low 12's Kawa in mid to low 11's... Yes all nice bikes and none today deserve basterdizing, No doubt the Kawasaki was king of the turbos.

Kawasaki was king of everything! Unless you wanted to meet the nicest people, then you rode a Honda.

And if you were too cheap to buy a Kaw, then you ended up here.

The turbos came from governmental distress about the speed of the 1100s.
Smaller displacement, "same" performance
They did feature advanced technology, like computerized fuel injection. You'd laugh at the size of the computers.
My pal, The Collector, had all 5 factory turbos at one time. So, I got to see beneath the skin of the bikes and ride the GPz.
