A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have just bought a 1985 GS1100G ( White, silver and grey ) and can't seem to find a lot of info in this years model. I am going to restore it and would like to know what the compatability is with the earlier models of GS1100G and GS850G. Are the frames, engine, fuel tank and other bodyparts the same as the earlier bikes ? Any information would be much appreciated.

I don't have an answer for you but it's best to introduce yourself in the owners section as many more people view those posts. Welcome to this place. Folks cane be really helpful.

Seeing as you have an 85 you must be somewhere in New Zealand or Australia as I think the 1100G only went to 85 in those areas. Maybe Europe and Asia as well. As far as parts compatibility, I would imagine most parts from 82-85 will be the same. There is a member here from NZ that has that same year/model hopefully he will see this post and correct or confirm, can't recall the user ID for them however.

Welcome to the forum by the way. We like pics, of the bike of course.

Hi Mr. paulneilson,

The surest way to see what parts can fit other bikes is to compare part numbers. You'll find the procedure on my little website.

Let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

I, also, am dying to see the paint scheme that we most assuredly didn't get.
Being the last year, it has all of the best parts no doubt. ;)
