I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

afternoon all

going through my new acquisition to see about getting it fired up and I found the 2-3 coil not connected (wiring harness is a mess), but even after hooking it up I don't get spark on 2 or 3.

here is what I know:

2-3 coil is good - If I hook the wiring from the 1-2 coil to the 2-3 then I get spark out of the 2-3 coil, so coil is good

black/yellow wire from ignitor box to the coil shows full continuity

the ignitor test shown in the service manual doesn't work for me (pdf page 189, service manual page 7-5) for either the 1-2 or the 2-3 coils, no spark at all. same test described here: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/storagecliff/images/electrical_odd-n-ends.html#A11 as well

resistance at both coils within spec for both pri and sec circuits

resistance in signal generator pickups both within spec

so before I pronounce my ignitor bad I'd like to use a scope to check out the signal coming out of the pickups in the signal generator wiring. I bought the bike with the side cover is off the signal generator and I don't trust anything to be good on this bike yet, assume that since the harness is kinda hacked up and that the cover was off that someone has been looking at the pickups as a potential problem

I have an Elenco S-1325 scope (http://www.prolexdesign.com/images/elencos-1325.jpg) and need some help with testing the pickups -- no idea how to do this, never used a scope before but would like to learn, seems like a simple thing to check.

any scope knowledgeable folk here that could lend a hand? Would need to know how to set the probes, what scale to put the scope on, and how to do the test/what to look for. Even a URL to a writeup somewhere on how to do this would be appreciated. thanks
