A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

That's a nice lookin' S Ian. Looks like the rear mudguard's been shortened also?

The PO hacked lots of plastic up, then changed his mind and glued the pieces back on. Trimmed (or should I say butchered?) parts include the windscreen, chain guard, airbox lid and now the rear mudguard (which I never noticed before). The windscreen has stayed glued in place but the other pieces fell off eventually. I'm looking for a new airbox lid.

The bike is a very nice almost original survivor, but I guess it will be a while before it has any sort of collector value.

Ah Rich...Nice buy....Lol let me know if you part that thing out lol....I want the motor combo....lol jk. Also Ian, mad clean bike you got there too....good to see another 450 owner on here.

Mate that's lookin' great!

I wanna know... what's the headlight and exhaust?

Not Sure on the headlight.....I know its a 7" Round bucket on ears...... Came with the bike. If you look you see my GPS lol.....The exhaust is a 2 into 1 with no muffler....Straight dump near the brake pedal....Im glad you think it looks good.... She will be better soon. If you want closer pics I'll pm you some Pete.

Must be loud as heck with no muffler......guessing it's a MAC 2-1 exhaust? Looks good man, glad to hear ya got to take it for a spin.

Cheers for that, any markings on the light you can see? I need to replace mine before I get it on the road as the plastic housing for the bulb has worn and it used to pop out while riding, leaving my headlight focussed about 5 feet in front of the bike. Would really like to get a H4 style replacement.

How did you go with jetting for the no muffler? And I'm assuming you have pods there too?

Edit: Actually, feel free to answer these over in your project thread, probably a little more appropriate over there :D

great photos everybody !

here are my two 450A's... not new pics, but what I have at the moment :

Heres my 1980 GS450L

Is it just me or does the rear end of that look out of proportion height wise with the front?

Either way, I love it :D

Oh, and what jets are you using with the stacks and no baffles and did you shim your needles?

yes, shimmed the needles, has to take my dremel to the "needle Holder" to taper it Right,

Had this one for a while. Going to swap out the bars, get some shorter turn signals and maybe black out the chrome. I have removed the rack and windshield.

Here is the exact 1979 425L I drove in high school, got it from my dad with almost no miles. I am hoping to keep it as stock as possible...but the bars are not my favorite, who knows. One of the side covers is cracked so hope I can find an exact replacement!
