If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

2 stage or multistage lockup?

I bought Trippivot's GS1100e with a 1260 kit that I am getting ready for drag racing next season. Some of the good parts seem to have fallen off during the trip from Wisconsin so I am pretty much starting from scratch. I want to run with stock wheelbase and hand clutch, and work only on riding technique and consistency instead of timeslips for a year. I have already scored some ebay treasures like a billet clutch basket, Bandit swing arm and 5.5" wheel, and a Dyna 2-step. Wondering if a clutch change will help with the launch and consistency while I get myself sorted out. I went several times last year and improved every run but still need a lot more seat time and 40 year younger reflexes. I still want to be able to occasionally ride on the street so a slider is out. Will a MTC 2-stage clutch be best for this year, or should I go for the added tunability and complexity of the multistage? Or just stick with the clutch lever and learn to launch? Anyone have used parts to help out?

1260 10-1, Street ported head +1mm Intakes, BS36 carbs, pipe, stock cams. For now...

Bob, for what you are doing a simple lockup is all you need. I have several if you want one.

My choice would be a slider clutch. I never cared for the hand clutch as I rather like the idea of having a good grip on the bars.

Prior to the slider, I rigged an air cylinder and 12v solenoid to the lever at the clutch housing. I could then pull the clutch lever on the bars in, push a button with my thumb to hold the clutch disengaged and as the lights came down, I would get the button go while having a good grip on the bars under the lever.

At this point the lever on the bars in in the engaged/released position so it didn't push my hand off the bars.... Did I say that right?

I forget to put up the drawing of the United States and Canada with none of the States or Provinces colored in because I've been to every one of the at least twice... Oops I guess that is bragging, sorry, won't do it again. Hawaii is my favorite State, Vancouver, BC my favorite city. And Hong Kong.

Also, what parts seem to have "fallen off"?
Ray.

Yes, I'm wondering the same thing. Also, it would awesome to watch you one of the days next year. You've sure become a solid member and GS rider Bob.

Nothing major, the BS36 carbs turned out to be 34s with 36 diaphragm covers, and the clutch basket was in dire need of replacement. I already had a good set of 36's, and got a great ebay score on a billet basket. I haven't ridden it much as the tires are pretty old, but I can confirm it has a LOT of midrange torque.

I love the old school bikes, they are old just like me. And I am a back of the pack rider, but having a great time :)
