A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Anyone changed their chain and sprockets from #630 to #530?
I need to know what makes (honda, yamaha, etc) use the same countershaft spline size, and what makes use rear sprockets with the same bolt pattern spacing.

Earl

To convert to the 530 chain you need a 6mm thick washer on the front spline. The following bikes use the same front sprocket (for a 530 chain):

GSF1200S Bandit
GSF600S Bandit
GSXR750 86-97
GSX600F Katana 88-02
SV650 all
GSX750F Katana 89-01
YZF600R 94-02
FZR600R 89-99
ZX600A/B/C/D/E Ninja
All the KZ650s except the KZ650 H CSR
KZ750 76-79
ZX750 Ninja 87-94
VN800 Vulcan 95-02
ZX-9R Ninja 94-01

Rear Sprocket:

GSXR750 90-95
GSF1200S Bandit
GT750 all
Several more Suzuki models

Hap, I can't find my 530 chain, nor can I find my 630 chain. Which one do I have?

Hap

This is for the 1100 right?

Last time I bought sprockets from Dennis Kirk they asked me if I wanted to convert to 530. I believe they can set you up with everything you need....

But you still have a chain whirling around in your engine

Yeah, but it's clean and enclosed, in an oil bath. That's the only kind of chain I like.

Yes, Scotty. I'm a consistent pain in the tush, eh?

THANKS Hap! I am assuming that the same sprockets would fit both the 650 and 1100.

Just reach in your pocket. Take out your watch and look at the chain.
If the little hand is on the five and the big hand is on the six, its 530.

My chain gets "rattled" every day at 530 and then again at 630 - does that count :?: 8)

So, to convert a GS1000 from 630 to 530 all I'd need would be a bandit 12 front and rear sprocket, chain and 6mm washer? The sprockets bolt straight on? What are the benefits in this, is it smoother and quieter? Less strain on the g/box?

I am not sure about a 650, or the early 750 but for a '80 GS1100E that is how you do it. I'm 95% sure that is also correct for the 4 valve 750.

They are lighter and roll easier, so they waste less hp. Racebikes are using 520 setups.
