A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

750 cafe project

Here is a youtube video of me revving the engine. I still have some fine tuning to do, but you kind of get an idea of what the bike sounds like:

The list of projects is still large, but it is steadily getting smaller.

Tomorrow my replacement taillight arrives. I am a little annoyed that I bought it last Monday night and it won't get here till tomorrow. The ebay guy might have a good excuse, and I don't want to be a jerk about it, but a 9-10 day wait for something is getting a little bit long in this day and age.

I had to laugh when I saw this. I first saw it like a couple of months ago, back when I still wanted a CB750, and was sitting googling and youtubing cafe racers looking for inspiration ;)

A small world...

yeah, it kind of wierds me out when I see that it has been viewed almost 9000 times, and the other video about 45,000 times.

ok, I realize this is a really old thread, but I came across it doing a search for "folding foot pegs" (stock solid pegs gave me a bit of a scare, I'll spare you the details). I really love cafe racers when they're done right....but there's some really ugly attempts/half a$$ed cafe projects out there. I saw the first couple of pics and thought "here goes another GS ruined by a budget cafe job".... then I read through the entire thread in one sitting and was pleasantly surprised! Top notch work, and very innovative solutions to problems. The end result was an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS bike!!! I'd love to see what this bike looks like now, if he's still even got it.
I like looking at older threads on builds, because I get the instant gratification of seeing the project from start to finish in one sitting. :D

a little bump...

a little bump...

Its been a while with no activity here on this one!

Just want to compliment your bike! Very cool!

Its almost exactly what I plan to do on mine!

Hows it looking now-a-days?

In a word, she's lonely. I had a couple small issues that I wanted to correct before I plated her this summer. Nothing mechanical, she starts and runs fine. I needed to make a new plate mount and wire in plate lights.

Sadly, between projects around the house and chasing a toddler I haven't had a chance to do the work, or get a plate. One more summer of no riding. Another friend of mine also has a daughter the same age as mine, and his bike is about as far back in his garage as mine is. We have shared more than one rueful laugh about it this summer.

Next summer I swear I am going to ride.

Thanks for the compliments.
