A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am on SOHC and have posted there as well without any responses. The thing I wanted to ask is this. In Neutral, theres no noise or anything...nice smooth engine as good as gold. Put it in either Low or Drive and it gets that renowned clatter that I hear its famous for. The question is should i see about replacing the two bearings that are in the oarts fiche for the torque converter or any other ideas??

mine did the same thing and made the same sounds in gear.
local honda dealer told me not to worry...many many moons ago.

My brain simply has a hard time accepting that Honda said...well that grenading sound is ok for the bike and noone will really mind if it sounds that way. Just doesnt add up to me..theres got to be something worn or out of specs here.

I should also note that once she off and running theres absoulutely no noise..just at a light while holding the brake and its idling she sounds like shes gonna grenade any minute.

sounds right going off of memory.
in gear sitting still....knock knock knock.
in neutral quiet.
going down the road quiet.

Yup your memory is crystal clear on that...its the god awefullest selling point anyone would accept at a test ride back in the day...least if i got on one and it did that i would probably never buy a Honda. And if the dealer gave me that reply I would demand they refund me the purchase price and take a taxi back home.

Yes thats the clatter....god awefullest sound. Like a few big nuts and bolts being slammed off the walls of a coffee can.

My dealer kept a spare converter sitting in the parts for 20 years, never once got a call for it. I had one for awhile, a 77, built a trike around it. As I recall, they use a different carb bank than the regular 750s did, and don't bolt up the same. They were really EPA lean from the factory. If you don't get a decent set of carbs with it, they will be hard to find in good shape. It's been a long time, so cut me some slack. It felt faster than it was, but the torque was good, and I prefer that over HP on any non hot rod.
