A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

New here, and stumped. My son and I bought a gg550. Bike runs awesome, but 3 out of 4 carbs squirt out fuel in an odd pattern. It's like they take turns. About every 5 seconds one squirts, ten stops, then the next one does it. Is this normal, possibly having dirt in the system. The bike runs so well, would hate to have carbs completely rebuilt do 450 dollars if it's something that could be easily fixed. Thank you!

The carbs need to be cleaned but no reason to spend $450 to do so. Look in the Parts and Services forum and look up Chef or Steve. They will fix up your carbs for a good price. If they won't PM me and I'll do them for you. Or better yet rebuild them yourself. Find the VM carb rebuild tutorial here and get busy...http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/ And whatever you do don't waste money on "carb kits" other than some new O-rings and float bowl gaskets. You may need float needles but cross that bridge when you get to it.

BTW, check the Newbie Mistakes thread linked in my signature so you know what to look out for. And do all the bikes maintenance: valve adjust, new brake lines, etc.

Good luck

Yup, sounds like the floats are sticking.

I can just echo what Ed said.

Cleaning the VM's is no biggie, given you work with some care, in an orderly fashion and are able to follow the instructions given in the linked tutorials.

I successfully did so just recently (multiple times, but that's another story), and I'm a complete noob to those things.

+1 for doing it yourself. I had to disassemble and clean twice as well but I actually learned a lot. Seems way harder than it is. The guide Ed linked to is great!
