    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

@Erki and NAB: the motor table has been built and the help would be great this weekend. Let me know if either of you have some spare time.

I would completely understand if you don't have the time so no expectations here.

So, here is the table for the engine.

Screw the engine table to the bike table here temporarily so it wont roll away while moving the engine.

Once the engine is out it's time to cut off unnecessary tabs and get rid of these stupid reinforcements that were very poorly welded on and consist of black pipe.

That last one made it pretty hard to remove the exhaust manifold and will make it damn near impossible to reinstall it without scratching up the front of the frame.

I'm kinda torn on what color to paint or powder coat the frame. Even thinking of chroming it.

Gotta start picking up parts too.

Im heading to the bike show probably 10:30 - 11ish. Could come by on my way if that would fit into your day?
 
Appreciate you trying to find time to help Erki but I won't be home until about 4pm or so tomorrow.
If I don't get it don't this weekend, keep me in mind though.

Been taking care of the wife. It seems I gave her the horrible cold/flu that had me down for almost a week.

I have a couple hours sunday morning about 9 before I'm gone for the day, FYI.
 
That bike table and engine stand are awesome. 2 x 4's and plywood can make almost anything on a low budget. I might have to do some table building of my own soon. My back is starting to hate me working with the bike on the floor.
 
Ya boontonmike, Building the table for the bike was the best thing I have done in a long time.
My back and knees thank me.

I highly recommend it. I think the bike table cost about $100 including the front wheel lock.
The engine table was about $50 but I used pretty heavy duty castors (good for 180# each)

So after looking at the bike I realized that the engine was intended to be removed from the right hand side and not the left.

So I moved the table over to the right side and thought the gap between the bike and motor table was a bit large.

So I decided to do this.

And screwed the motor table to the bike table.

I was going to wait until I had someone to gimme a hand removing it but thought, what the heck. How hard can it be?

While I was unbolting engine mounts on the right side I heard something drop and found this on the left side. Where did it come from?

I also remembered someone saying that it helps to remove the breather for extra clearance.

So I remove the bolts and part of it stays on the engine.
WTF? who breaks an ear off and silicons it back on? Yes, there were gobs of silicon holing the break "together"

So I grab a floor jack and remove the rest of the bolts

I'm pretty sure I will want someone there to help me put it back in once the frame is painted, plated or powdered so I don't scratch it up.

I also recall someone mentioning taping up the frame prior to reinstall.

Thanks to Daniel (I think it was) who suggested the walk it out method.

Now the fun begins.
I start cutting.
