A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi guys,

Can someone confirm for me that the carb spacing on a 78 gs750 vm26 is 77-93-77,

Looking at sourcing some early 85-86 gsxr 750 vm29ss flatslides, like these ones for my winter project,

Thanks everyone

Are you talking about vm29 smooth bores or vm29ss flat slides? As far as I've researched, the early 85-86 non US gsxr 750 mikuni vm29ss flat slides are 77-93-77? But I don't have a set yet to confirm this. Please correct me if I am wrong because that changes my plans for this winters rebuild

K, thanks Agemax, you just saved me $300 that I can now put toward smooth bores

Rookie question: the 77-79 750 carbs are referred to as vm 29 smoothsides?
no, the 750 carbs are referred to as VM26's. VM29 smoothbores are a Mikuni performance upgrade carb which can be used on most 8 valve GS's , 750 upwards. 33mm smoothbores are also available for bigger capacity engines

Have you used the vm29ss flat slides on anything yet Agemax? I'm gonna do an 850 top end swap this winter along with some mild head work and I have a chance on picking up a pair of these in really good shape, plus they look pretty cool

Not yet! i have a set that i am rebuilding, that will be respaced to fit a 80 GS1000 head. Also they have the back plates from TM33's so they will be a genuine VM33 flatslide, instead of 29mm
