    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Decided to take the weekend off from working on the bike. Only major items left to do are to strip and refinish the fuel tank and the tail section. Waiting for my much smaller then OEM signal lights. I was thinking of going with LEDs but decided that for now i would go with black frame and smoked lenses with 2 wire rear and 3 wire for the front. Have a GREAT weekend everyone!!
 
Okay.........ran into a little problem refinishing the tail section. Cleaned and stripped the wax from the rear tail. Then i wet sanded it with 400grit wet/dry paper. I then used some repair putty to fill a few gouges that had been in the upper surface since before i bought the bike. Sanded the repair down smooth, again, wet with 400 grit and let set for a few days. I then used Rustoleum black primer(same primer that i had used on every other part that i had painted) and sprayed on 4 coats over about an hour and a half. I let it set for around 20hrs and then wet sanded the primer with 600 grit. I then let it dry(all dry time was in a warm 75f deg. furnace room) for a day and then sprayed it with Rustoleum Gloss Black Enamel. 3 coats in 30 min. Looked Awesome!!!! Then I was going to spray 3 coats of Rustoleum Clear Enamel(made sure to use all same brand and type of coatings) The first coat of clear was just a light dust coat.....when first coat of clear was on..........it all wrinkled:eek::eek:, like it had a reaction between the color and the clear. I used the same paints and procedures on the different metal pieces and they all turned out great. Is it because of the plastic in the tail section.......At this point I'm going to just sand the clear off and just use the black enamel with no clear unless someone can enlighten me as to what i did wrong:confused::confused::confused::confused: Thanks in advance guys!!!

Well, I finally did a bunch more work, and took more pictures. I ended up pretty much finishing it today. First a picture of the tank before body fill, primer & paint.
 
And now all painted & Suzuki emblem installed and ready for the gas cap cover
 
Same picture as the previous but used flash(what a difference in the intensity of colors)
 
This on is the windshield that i installed, the mounts may work ok but i think I'm going to cross them so top windshield goes to bottom clamp and vise-versa for windshield bottom mount. The windshield is actually a low/sport windshield for a CanAm Spyder RS.
 
Finally....getting to the end of it......fuel tank installed and fuel lines hooked up
 
Getting to the end....about 98% done....just a checkover & minor adjustments are left....only other thing I may add is a red LED bar to the license plate frame for more light/visibility in the rear(though I'm really happy with the LED tail light bulb).
 
Well, it finally came out of the shop. I still have a few things to do with it when I took this picture. So I did some of that today. I installed the cam end caps. And, I took an old license plate frame...painted it gloss black and installed some super bright red LED, on the side and wired them to my brake lights(already using an LED tail light bulb). When I get the chance, I'll take a picture of the lights on while running.
 
I also today changed the mount for the windshield from double horizontal supports(you can see them in the picture) to an "X" mount, much more rigid though there is still a small amount of up/down movement. When you put pressure against it, it tightens up....guess I'll just have to try it.
 
I've been pretty much done for a few weeks and have waited to to get it insured & registered......So I went into the DMV this afternoon and they inform they need my title to the bike......arrggggg!!!!.....I have it, but I've moved a few times since it was last on the road and cant find it :mad::mad:
