A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Picked up this bike for $250 back in August. I had to put on a new petcock and replace the battery. It runs really good, but I want to change the looks a bit. Gonna go a little Cafe style with it, but nothing to crazy.

A few pics of things I've done the last couple of weeks.

Taking apart the back end to build a new seat.

Building a new seat pan. Using 24 gauge sheet metal to mock up a prototype. Gonna make the end product out of 16 gauge.

What I started with.

Plans for the coming weeks include K&N pods, some new paint, new tires, and new tail light/turn signals.

Got some paint laid down on the old girl today. Starting to look pretty good. Gotta do some color sanding and it will look very nice.

The paint is PPG shop series urethane. The color is cherry red. Did 3 coats of base and 3 coats of clear. This was my first experience painting anything automotive. I laid it down with an HVLP gun from Harbor Freight. I was a little leery of using a cheap gun, but had heard some great things about them from a few people I know. For a 13 dollar gun it worked damn good.

Also, the side panels are gonna be gloss black. I'm just gonna try Krylon Fusion on those. I'm also thinking of painting the stock Suzuki emblems gloss black as well.

I may talk to a guy about doing some thin black pinstripes on the tank, fender and rear fairing. Red and black is my favorite color combo, and I think I will look great on my GS.

I'd stay away from Krylon. It doesn't seem to play well with others and painted over anything or painted on by anything else, it will curl and crack. Duplicolour should work and mix with your current paint.

The Krylon is going on the side panels that have been sanded down to bare plastic. I appreciate the concern though. If it does wrinkle or crack I'll sand it down and get some duplicolor.

any plans for the old bars, or the airbox? I know its not the vogue at the moment, but I dig the higher pitch bars.

I took the stock bars off this winter. I just didn't like the way the felt. I'm hoping to get rid of the stock air box and get some k and n pods.

If your old stock seat isn't torn and the vinyl is still soft, I would like to buy it.

Also, how many cfm of a compressor did you have? or how many hp?

I need to try my hand on paint.

I was looking at the gun he bought on HF and I believe the requirement for his gun was 4.8-6 CFM.
