80's GS550L R/R replacement opinions

Can anyone tell me if this: ("Suzuki" part)

I realize there are several circulating opinions about this, and I have tried to piece them together... some preach a resounding yes on Rick's, others (Bass Cliff) say Electrosport... where do we stand now; any further developments?

Thanks for any guidance. (Also, I believe a new stator is also necessary for a complete repair; should I be looking to Rick's for said stator, or is there another manufacturer producing something more efficient?)

No comment on the R/R's, Im no expert but I will say that HTML anchors dont work in here. You need to use;

Hi Mr. Ilogician,

To set the record straight, I have never recommended an Electrosport r/r unit. The aftermarket OEM type regulator/rectifiers are just as weak as the original Suzuki part. Please visit the electrical section of my little website for a list of compatible, more modern r/r units. I'm on my phone right now so I'll be back later with a proper welcome.
