A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I did take it apart, the hole in that pic goes through to the diaphragm so I'm guessing I would have to plug that to make it work.

Here is the seat pan after I trimmed it down but I still don't like the way it looks. Going to trim more or go with another seat all together. Don't know yet.

Carbs are back together and on the bike. I used the wiring harness that came with the bike and have everything plugged in that I think I need to start the bike. I used the manual and traced and marked all my wires. The only problem I see is that the rectifier I have has 3 yellow wires and according to my manual they should be white w/blue, white w/green and 1 yellow. With the key on I get nothing with the handle bar start button. If I cross the solenoid it will spin the starter. Any ideas? :(

Can you post up pictures of what you are looking at? The three yellow wires from the RR go to the stator but that is a different problem than the starter button not working. Have you verified the main fuse to the ignition switch is good and that there is power going to the start button when the key is on?

Thanks cowboy. I got the starter button figured out, turned out to be a bad button. New problem is gas pouring out of the carbs on the filter side. I set the floats per the instructions on basscliffs page which I believe was 7/8th of an inch. my haines manual says 1.02. What is the correct height to set the floats?

22.4mm; ensure you are reading it from the top of the gasket surface of the carbs without the gasket

It's also best to stay metric on your readings so you don't get anything or anyone confused in the process

ok. reset all levels and actually set one lower than 22.4. and im still getting fuel poring out of the carb. Its coming out the hole on the right. This isn't my first carb rebuild but ive never had this problem before.

I personally haven't run into that problem so wouldn't know how to help. However, I would recommend posting up a question about it in the carb technical forum as some who would know may not look here.

Anyone ever replace the glass in the gauges? Both of mine have the glass knocked out. I've searched the internet but no new glass is available? Or a source of someone that rebuilds gauges?
