DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I am installing a V&H 4 into 1 header on an 81 GS1000 and need to know what to re-jet carbs to...header was bought used and came with no jetting instructions..."falls flat on its face" around 5500 to 6000 rpms....any help is much appreciated...thanks

Do you have the stock intake system? Stock engine?
Are you somewhere near sea level?

I'd put in a 122.5 main jet
Shim the jet needle
Take out the idle mixture screws a bit

Intake is stock and motor is stock....located in Michigan

Go with what Chef says. Better yet go one size richer on the main jet, he likes to burn holes in pistons.

bforster199, I agree with Chef and would also suggest possibly bumping your pilots to 42.5. Maybe pick up the 120, 122.5, and 42.5 pilots before starting your project so you have them on hand. The Mikuni jets are only about $ 3 each last I checked. I am currently running a stock airbox with a K&N filter, 120 mains, shimmed needles, and the 42.5 pilots on my 1000.

All bikes are not the same even within motors but that should get you close enough to fine tune from there. If you have not done it yet I would also suggest adjusting your valves, replacing intake boots and o-rings, replacing the airbox to carb boots, replacing exhaust gaskets, and sealing your airbox before even starting on your jetting. Unfortunately there are no shortcuts to proper jetting so if you have any intake or exhaust leaks you will not get accurate plug reads and it will be very difficult to get it to run right.

thanks alot guys....your input has helped tremendously....i can move forward with the re-jetting project now...thanks again!!
