'81 gs1000g starter clutch compatability

Edit. I think what I am looking for is the part number for the one way bearing(pictured below) included in the 12600-49830 assy. Has anyone figured out the compatibility of an 81 gs 1000g starter clutch one bearing and other models.
I am working on rebuilding mine and have 2 of the three holes cleared to reinsert new springs and pins. the 3rd will require careful filing to allow the new pin to slide smoothly. anticipating the need for a new starter clutch eventually. thank you.

I will continue to monitor uk, aus, it websites and ebay ready to pounce, but would like to know if I can look for a other part number.

The starter clutch on the 1000G is larger than the 850. I just did this comparison in the last couple weeks. Word is that the 1000E starter clutch and gear as a set will interchange to the G, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.

Have you looked at the parts fishe on Partzilla or similar? There you will find what parts fit what bikes.

One interesting tidbit that's not widely known is that the 1000G and 1000e starter clutch uses a different center bearing; the shaft drive bikes use a larger bearing. I learned this after parting out a shaft drive bike and realizing the parts are different from those on my chain drive 1000.

Thank you. That is the kind of information I am looking for. The part numbers in the manual and various part sites give the number as the assy. The one way bearing does not have it's own number. So it is possible for that part to be the same on different assy's with different numbers.
I solved my current issue with the old one way bearing by using a drill bit the correct size cut to3/4" and then slowly turned it to rebore the hole. I hope to find a new one before this gives out.

According to your part number 12600-49830 fits the 80 GS1000GT and the 81's GS1000XT & GLX. Hope that helps.

Perusing the alpha sports site, it seems the cover plate that traps the rollers into the starter clutch hub is used on many models, leading me to think that the hub/roller assembly itself is common too . Exception is the gs1100 shafties.

Did not know about the alpha sports site. I plugged in the roller part number and that narrowed it further. Ideally the O.D. of the boss on the starter gear that goes into the starter clutch would be listed. That would seem to be the deciding factor in compatibility. Thanks everyone. I can move forward in search.

Have you had any luck finding a replacement starter clutch or an alternative model that fits? I have been searching for 6mths with no luck, mine has cracked almost in half, almost looking at just parting the bike out if I dont find one soon,,

You can also search for the crank assembly and some of them have the rotor and starter clutch still attached. But there is a lot of extra cost for shipping that way. They can be welded, but how true they will be afterwards depends on the type of welding used.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, the starter clutch for the 1000G is very similar to that of the 1000E. I think the "cracked" part of yours is the same as the E bikes.

Gosh, I didn't know you couldn't get these any more. I needed one for the 1000G I keep in Maine about 10 years ago. I bought everything, including the bearings and both gears only to figure out it didn't fit. I had not known that a PO had switched it the engine to a 1983 1100G which has a larger diameter crank shaft. I still have all the parts, but I also still have two other 1000Gs with stock engines in other states. Its disappointing seeing replacement parts availability disappear. I knew that bike was a bit peppier than the others.

The crank diameter is the same on the G and the E. The hub diameter on the gear where the rolers run is different. If you get a starter clutch with the gear and the bearing, it should work.
