A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've been looking for a gs750e to buy and came across an 81 local to me. When I went to look at the bike there was a ticking sound, seems like it's coming from the center of the engine. I posted a video of it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvN6pcmAeh0

The current owner said it is more noticeable once the engine warms up.

Is this a cam chain adjuster issue that I've read about on here, or something more serious ? I also read here that the 750 80-83 bikes had oil pressure con rod problems. Thanks for any advice.

hi babes.
do ypu know about the trick ov listening to the engine with a long screwdriver...
start the engine...
stick the handle to the lumpy bit in the centre ov ya ear...
and touch the tip onto various parts ov the engine... this will give you a really good idea ov EXACTLY where in the engine the sound is comming from...
if its the rear then prob camchain or tensioner...
if its the front then maybe the tacho drive...
if its the bottom, probably the main bearings or clutch or gears...
if its the top, then probably valves, valve buckets, shims or camchain top tensioner gear...
but try the screwdriver thing as its really usefull...

good luck.
