A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So Thursday morning I left around 8:30am with a 33*F temp out. That was icky. Went from the middle of Wisconsin to Springfield, IL. Average highway speed was 70-75 and I got 65mpg on average. With stops every 125-140 miles for gas it took me 8.5 hours. The little 300 won't go over 80, lol. Except for being a bit cold, my mp3 player dying 5 miles from home on the way out and getting stuck in the dark with only a tinted faceshield, it was a great time.

I wasn't too sure if doing so much hwy speeds with a small motor would be bad or not, but it ran just fine. Although next time I want something a bit bigger, both engine and fuel tank, and maybe more windscreen in front of me :)

You rode a GS300L for 810 miles straight !!

If GSR had an honorable mention IRONBUTT award .. I would nominate you !!

Way to go ;)

Nah, it was 810 total. 405 there then all over in her Mustang then 405 back.

Where in the middle of WI are you from? Just curious, I've been all over too, but not on my GS. I salute your efforts, I won't ride my Honda 350 more than 10 miles, as it feels just a little too strained for me.

I think my son Adam did about 250 miles on his GS300L one day ..

We were scouting for Red River Rally 2007 .. it was mostly country roads and twisties and he did great!

I don't think I have done much over 100 on it at a time.

SuzukiFail - I'm in Marshfield which is pretty much right in the middle of the state. Originally I'm from STL.

The only downfall to that distance was with the stock gearing at 70mph I was turning 8000revs and according to the manual it redlines at 9000, so I'm sure it was unhappy. If I took backroads I would have averaged like 60 or so, but added hours to my trip.

Cool, I just picked up my GS from up there. Great story man.

You need more scoot man. 70 on my bike is 4G's down the interstate.

I couldn't imagine operating the engine at 8G's for any long length of time.

awesome! Just change your gearing a bit, add a little windshield(if you must) and keep logging those miles. Fkng awesome!

Man, that makes my teeth hurt just hearing about. That little motor, turning that fast, for that long... now I understand how bad it was that your Ipod died, even 5 miles from home. That sound must have been mind-numbing...
