DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

82 1100Ez rebuild

Well, the heat finally got me. Shouldve bit the bullet and installed that oil cooler but here we are, going to use this thread to track my rebuild progress.

#3 cylinder piston rings overheated and are letting blowby to the chamber. heavy smoke once warmed up and signs of detonation coming out of the exhaust. once i get my shop cleaned up ill start tearing her down and replacing whatever needs to be. hopeful that the cylinder walls are intact. She needed a good clean out anyways so this is overdue, just wish it couldve waited another 1k miles or so i had a camping trip this weekend and this turned me into the cage driver for the trip

That cylinder was probably a bit lean and an oil cooler wouldnt have made any difference. Ive ran my bikes in 105 degrees here in texas and oklahoma for many hours at a time with no ill affects.

An oil cooler on an 11E is a good thing. The difference in my oil temp was phenomenal.
The bike was designed with a cooler in mind; no running hoses to the back of the engine. I got the cooler and lines off an 1150, plus a NOS 1150 filter cover, and it was plug and play.
If you can't locate an 1150 oil filter cover, your stock 11EZ cover will have to be modified.

Got the frame almost stripped and the engine cracked open, #3 cylinder is gouged pretty good from frozen rings. All the other cylinders are undamaged, gotta get the carbon off the pistons and disassemble valves and make sure everything is good. I'd love to go oversize 1mm (as long as the wall damage is salvageable) but it's not in the money cards right now. pretty strapped at the moment so here's what I'm thinking.

Get a stock sleeve and have a shop replace it. This is assuming the piston is good and rings will suffice.

sorry for the crap image quality
