If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey you original owners of the 82 GS1100E.. I just bought the stock grips from bandit and the left handlebar grip has an open end. Was there some sort of plastic cap that went on the end of the handlebar to cover the end of the bar? If there was I can't see it in any of the parts breakdowns and I'm looking for one. Thanks

Actually, the stock grips used on 1982 and older GS models are no longer available. The part numbers have been superceded to the 1983 style grips. The GSes that used those grips had bar end weights that inserted into the ends of the grips and were fixed into the handlebars.

Thanks for your quick reply. Oh well I may have wasted some money on these grips then. I was hoping to keep this thing as stock as possible but that may not be possible with the grips. I'll probably just buy some more grips so I don't have a big hole in the left one.

Another option would be to pick up a pair of bar ends on ebay (several styles are readily available, to approximate a stock look), and install them with these grips. This would be mainly for cosmetic purposes.... the aftermarket ends are pretty light, and don't do much to kill bar vibes, but they do look good.

Tony.

That's a good idea I think it would look really good but my left side handlebar has about 1/4 of an inch and then it's solid.. The throttle side may be the same way. So I'm not able to put a bar end into them.

I you don't want to use them, pm me. I need some for my GS1100E refurbishment.

my 82' 1100glz left hand grip has a polished aluminum cap to fit in the hole. No bar weights.
