A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Diameter is 2 1/16", I have about 3" of room to go back. Where can I get some good pod filters without paying 200 BUCKS!? Please help me.

From K&N's website: http://www.knfilters.com/universal/universal.htm

There is also a link on that page to search by dimension.

Get the part number from the K&N site and do a google/ebay search, you can usually find what you want for quite a bit cheaper.

I went with the RC-2550's on my 550, they are a very tight fit for these small frame bikes. You will probably have to modify your carb top rail to allow them to fit better.
$30 each http://www.ajusa.com/K-and-N-RC-2550-Universal-Chrome-Filter-af648.html

You have noticed stuff on this forum about even decent pods requiring a dynojet kit???

And if you are put off by the price of an official Dynojet kit, you will at least need to do some re-jetting via trial and error.

It's your choice: Pay a bunch of money and get it close the first time or pay less money, but spend a LOT more time trying to get it close.

I have 4 pod filters for sale if you are interested. I don't know that much about pods so you will have to look up if these are what you want, but they are unused, still in the box. I got them a few years back and they have been sitting in my shop ever since. They are 52mm, tapered oval pod filters. Made by XS Performance, the part number is 15-0036. These are NOT K&N pods
Each filter is about 3 3/8" long, 4" tall and just under 3" wide.

I'm just looking to get a bit of mondy back. 10$ each + shipping?

I can ship it, otherwise I am located in Hamilton, Ontario.

Thank you everyone for your adice and links. I was actually going to get pods because I couldnt get my carbs back in with the big giant air box in the way. Speaking of I tried to fix my "hanging idle" by getting new o rings for my intake boots. DID NOT WORK. very very unfortunate. Any other ideas anyone????

Eric suggests that you richen the fuel screws a bit, for your hanging idle.

Not sure about your 650G configuration, but you might be able to use a tip suggested to me from some members‏ here. Loosen your inner back fender and put it on the tire. Then you can remove the battery box screws and slide everthing else back to give you more room to get the carbs back in with the airbox in the general area. You only get about ab 1/8 - 1/4 inch, but thats enough. You can also use a ratchet tiedown strap to help seat the carbs in the boots, just take your time so you get it in the intake boots correctly. Run it around the front of the frame and attatch the hooks to each other. A cardboard spacer between the strap and the carb helps to keep the strap from sliding off the round face of the carbs. And if needed, a small rubber mallet can help persuade the carbs the rest of the way.

It worked on two 550Ts, an 850G, and my FJ1100. Might be worth a try while you are figuring out what you want to do. If it works then you wont need to rejet the carbs, which you will have to do with pods. Either way your going to be pulling those carbs off once again(rejet for pods or install airbox). Also if you have nothing on them now, neither an airbox or pods(no restriction at all), then trying to adjust your carbs is almost a waste of time, as you will have to redo it again with whatever filter you choose. Just my 2 cents.
